2wire 2700HG - B

Since I installed this 2wire, everything is working fine but I cant access Ebay or MSN, after awhile I get a screen saying no conection, but it is.
Is there some sort of time out on this thing and if so how do i ajust it,
All other sites work fine.

I can't access My eBay, Yahoo Mail, certain clips on youtube. When I connect to my neighbour's router these are all OK. Also when I use the ISP-supplied speedtouch modem everything is OK

Hmmmm.. I just tried the tip of reducing "force MTU" down to 1492.

It worked for me!!!!!!!!!! Many thanks you have saved me much time and trouble.

The router works for most URLs, but for the one I need, carsandtrucks.com, it always 'times out'. I have spent days now trying to solve the problem. I had it working about one hour tonight and then it quit again.

I bought a 2 Wire Router a few months ago, only one PC in the house can log onto hotmail but the others can't, everything else works fine and I know it's the router I just don't know how to fix it! Any ideas????

Here is the solution obtained from my supplier, and this worked well for me:

If you have installed a 2Wire router/modem 1000/1701/1800/2700 series, and can surf the web just fine apart from some websites, such as MySpace, eBay and Hotmail, you may need to adjust your MTU settings.

Log into the router's management console page at page at http://192.168.1.254/mdc

On the left side under "Advanced", click on "Configure Services"

Set the "Force Upstream MTU" value to 1396 then hit Submit. Reboot the modem/router.

Check out this for installation procedure:

Try this to check out how fast your modem is working. It seems speed varies a lot depending on how busy other subscribers are who are sharing facilities.

Log on to the routers interface and look for MTU size. Once you get there, reduce it to 1492. This will help.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

There are possibilities of network broadcast on your network, that choks the firewall. The next time when you have this problem, try isolating the machines one by one & narrow down the issue.

Are you trying to use wireless? If so, do you have poor signal? I would suggest browsing to your modems interface. Type gateway.2wire.net into your web browser. Click on the Homenetworking icon. Select wireless settings. Type in your system password. Increase the power of your wireless setting located towards the bottom of the page. You can even try changing the wireless channel. Save and then retry to connect. Make sure you are entering the network key correctly.
