SOURCE: cd ejection

Look for a tiny, recessed Reset button on the front of the unit with the face removed. Press this button with a pen tip; it should spit out the CD and work correctly afterwards. This will also erase your station presets and audio settings.

SOURCE: Face wont open

if you have already tried hitting the reset button you should first remove the faceplate and check the contacts on the main unit and the back of the faceplate. if they are dirty clean them (with power off) with contact cleaner or a small eraser. if your lucky that will fix the problem but most likely you have a bad ribbon cable. this cable attaches the faceplate contacts to the main unit and flexes as the face tilts. after time these cables get small cracks that may not be visible. you can usualy buy the part from a place like pacparts.com and replace it to solve your problem.

Unsupported video file

Any video file that is .avi requires codecs. Most players don't have a comprehensive list of codecs on their chips though they have divx and xvid on many devices these days. divx and xvid are codec types of .avi. Types such as .mpg or .mpeg or mp3 or mp4 are older and more compatible with most equipment. mkv may not work

Support manual for kenwood DDX719

Kenwood had the Instruction and Installation manual for the DDX719 available on their support site: http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Support/Car_Entertainment_Owners_Manuals/ . It's under Car Entertainment. The direct link to the manual is http://www.kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/UnitedStates/Consumer/Manuals/ddx719_qsg.pdf . It's labeled as the Quick Start Guide. There are 73 pages on using the unit, including trouble-shooting, before you get to the installation instructions.
I hope this helps.

I have a kenwood 719 flip out monitor and i put a cd in it and the monitor says mecha error and won't let the cd come out. It just makes a bunch of noises. I pressed the reset button but that didn't work....

You can try to push the CD in further with an object and then try ejecting (be careful not to break the CD!). Also, the soft reset button on the outside of the unit may not work, but disconnecting constant power (hard reset) may cause the CD to automatically be ejected when powered back up again. This can be done by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on the car for 15 seconds. If these don't work, visit a local Kenwood stereo dealer for service as this is a common issue with the 719 series and 819 series.
