Question about ASUS K8V-MX Motherboard

Can't "restore" from ASUS hdd to new laptop

Hi, I just bought a new Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista.
I did a total backup from my old PC onto my ASUS hdd before I left it behind and am now trying to open the "bkf" file on my new laptop, without success?
I've tried searching the internet for programs to open this file format, but not much luck.
My old operating system was XP - could this be the problem?
Is there a software patch?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My daughter has lost her windows login password(vista}

There is software for sale that will remove the password. A bit expensive! Maybe a cheaper option to install a fresh copy of Vista from the recovery partition and restore your backups to the new system as all data will be lost. If you have no backups, purchase a new external hdd, install it in the laptop, put Vista on it and put the old drive in the caddy. You can then copy your data over to the new hdd, or purchase the software to unlock the windows password.

Need to restore windows vista back to manufactures settings

If you download and install windows updates and updated drivers from Toshiba that may fix your problem otherwise press F8 just before it starts to boot and choose restore if the restore partition is still intact on the hdd.

Hard drive password not known.

I think you will have to restore from backup the whole disk. If you don't have a backup then you you will need Windows installation disks.

New hdd for laptop from Nippon Labs

Yes you can format this drive from your XP machine, or in vista (or xp for that matter) right click on my computer and then left click on manage.

When the computer management screen comes up highlight "Disk Management" on the left side. This will then display your drives in the right side. From here you can right click on the drive and create partitions, format etc.

You will need ghost or some other cloning software if you want to image the old drive to the new one. However if you have restore disks for the computer you should also be able to just install the OS on the new drive.

Hope this helps

PC Backup doesn't work with Windows Vista

You must check the package to ensure that the program is windows vista compatable. Please do note that Vista does have its own back software embedded. Simply type into the start search bar on the start menu backup and recovery.
