SOURCE: toro recycler runs like ****

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals and/or the jet in carb. These portals can become blocked. Replace the diaphragm as well. Reassemble and start.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

SOURCE: toro personal pace mower 5 yrs old only runs 10-15 seconds.

Was gasoline left in the tank during off season? Sometimes gas will break down and clog the jets in the carb. The priming bypasses the carb so when you put fuel in by pumping the bulb it runs, but dies becasue no additional fuel is coming through the carb after the primed fuel is burned off. Sounds like you need to clean the jets in the carb and in the future, use Stabil in gasoline to keep it from breaking down.

SOURCE: Toro Lawn mower running rough/usually won't start/backfires

You need to check a few things. The spark first, you need to check if it is running correctly, does it have spark, by doing this: take out the spark, put it against a metal surface and pull the pull start if it spark, your good if not you need a new spark plug. Clean out your airfiilter it migth help too. Buy some carb and choke cleaner squirt it up theough the airfilter hole, and start the engine, this will clen the carb. yOU MIGHT NEED TO TAKE OUT THE CARB AND CLENA I OUT THROUGHOULY!!! Try that and it whould work after all these steps!
IN your problem it might also be for some reasons like the crankshaft is bent, that damages the motor internally and cannot be fixed, hppens on older mowers. and is caused by when you run over twigs and branches andything hard!

SOURCE: electric starter not working on Toro

I've had the same problem (I think) - the starter will not activate. First time, I found the fuse that's attached to the battery "tray" had corroded. For that I put a good coating of silicone dielectric grease on the fuse contacts and holder. This keeps moisture out. With that it was good for a few months. Now it's gone bad again. This time the fuse is good, but the battery is dead, and so dead that it won't recharge. Apparently the cause of the discharge was/is grass and moisture finding its' way into the battery area, and providing a conductive path between the battery terminals. I was recharging it regularly, following the owners manuals' instructions, so it's definitely not a negligence problem caused by me.
So, obviously what we have is a design flaw in the mower that allows grass clippings to get into the battery area. Time for a recall, but for a quick fix for your current pioblem, you might just find the fuse is corroded, and a replacement + non-conductive grease may be all you need to git'er going.

SOURCE: mower runs very rough

Sounds like a bad diaphragm in the carburetor.

I jave a toro timecutter z5035 and it starting making a popping noise when running. When blades are engaged the blades turn slow and the engine idles down and then will pick up running for for 30 sec

clean the spark plug or even change it , when you store it you must run it out of gas which means shut the gas off so the gas does not turn into polish that clogs you carb , needle and seat etc ,

Toro GTS 6.5 HP doesn't run well in grass. Any ideas?

Has the fuel filter been replaced lately? Also you can look to see if the new spark plugs are getting fouled out still. Sometimes just replacing the spark plugs wont fix the problem.

Fuel filter in a dodge neon 2003

the fuel filter is located in the gas tank on that one and usually doesn't need servicing unless your changing the fuel pump, your problem sounds more like it might be a tune up instead of fuel filter, bad plugs will make one run real bad, when they get old and worn the gap in the plugs gets farther apart making it use more gas and causing rougher idle and poor performance, try replacing the plugs and check the air filter,an engine has to breath to run good ,good luck with it.

My 1999 gmc sierra was hesitating going was told to do a tune up changed plugs and wires air filter changed oil on my way home that day noticed it was running rough when stopped at red lights dont kno

Is the vehicle running rougher since the tune up and such ? Is it worse since fuel filter change ? Was there any change good or bad since the work was done ? Is the fuel line leaking gas ? Do you remeber what code AutoZone came up with ? I'm just trying to get all the correct information so I can give you the best guess as far as what your problem could be. Also what size engine do you have ? Reply/comment here or you can email me directly at csautomotivecars@att.net. I don't mind helping if I can and there is no cost but as I said need as much info as I can.

What does a major tune up for a 2004 chevy impala consist of? What should be done and needs to be done?

New spark plugs, oil and oil filter, transmission flush and fill, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush and fill, clean throttle body plate and bore, clean the MAF sensor, replace any loose or cracked vacuum lines, PCV valve, new air filter, new battery.

99% of the time all you should ever need for a tune up is new spark plugs, and a clean air filter and throttle body. But since your inquiry indicated "major" I gave it more critical thought.

No problems really, stalls once in a while. Just curious what consists of a tune-up on my engine. what I should replace and so on.

This would include your spark plugs or coils, the wires, a new distributor cap, an oil change, air filter, fuel filter, and a coolant flush. A tune up can make a car run like new again. Some don't change the fuel filter on a tune up but I have always said it is best too. They can get clogged up over time.

What is wrong with a Toro GTS5 that starts well but dies 5-10 seconds later. I have changed the spark plug, air filter and oil. New gas too. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had a similar problem. I'll bet I took off the carb. 5 - 6 times and cleaned it with no success. Very fustrating! One time while checking the fuel level I accidently left off the gas cap, I started it and while running I put the gas cap back on and started to mow and about 10 seconds it died. I thought could'nt be! So I loosened the cap, restarted and it kept running. Any way the small vent hole was plugged. Thats my story!. Good luck.
