I have the samsung (sr-s2028cvw) american style fridge freezer. Just recently it keeps defrosting by itself and half of my frozen food has to been thrown away. I have noticed that it does this when the freezer temperature starts to flash on the front panel display. I do know that it needs a new filter and wondered if this has n e thing to do with what its doing!! Its also started to leak when its defrosting from the water/ice compartment on the front.
Have u n e suggests on what it up with it and can it be repaired??

- I Have the same fridge and have had the same problem. Had about five diffrent engineers try five different things that didn't work to fix it. Finally they put in a new board, very costly and it now works, although the ice and water have been turned off for a while now as they have broken and I can't be bothered to deal with the engineers again just yet. But fridge is no longer defrosting as it was.- GuestBest Solution

I don't think your freezer is defrosting per say it is shutting down and everything is starting to thaw out which is why the ise that naturally builds up in your freezer door is melting and leaking. If you unplug your fridge and wait 60 seconds and plug it back in it will give you any error codes that are in the unit. You should have 4 8's on your freezer door 2 for the fridge section and 2 for the freezer. Depending on what dash of what 8 is lit up is the error for a variety of parts.
If you don't have any errors that show up check to see that your door switch is functioning correctly. Shut the freezer door and peel the gasket back so you can see if the light shuts off with the door closed.
