### How many gallons are in a tank 12" in diameter x 40" long?

Radius square x pi = area of circle
6" x 6" x 3.1415 = 113 square inches
113 square inches x 40 inches = 4523 cubic inches

231 cubic inches in 1 gallon
4523 divided by 231 = 19.58 gallon

### How many gallons of water will it take to fill 160' of 2"pipe

look up inside diameter of your 2' pipe
area inside a circle = 3.1415 (pi) x radius squared
for example if inside diameter of pipe is 1.75", then radius is half or .875
radius squared is .7656 x 3.1415 = 2.4 square inches

160 feet pipe = 1920 inches
2.4 square inches x 1920 = 4618 cubic inches

Then convert cubic inches into gallons:

If water is hot, then that can affect final calculation

Gas meters are usually rated in cubic feet per minute (CFM) not BTU. there are 1027 BTU per cubic foot so do the math. Try the link below Btu rating on natural gas meter

### I have a 85 gal rheem water heater-one of the heating elements is not working how do i find out which one it is

Get a volt/ohm meter. Turn the power off to the water heater. Take the wire off both elements. Check for continuity using the ohm part of the meter. Put red lead where one wire was and black lead where the other wire was on same element. Meter should move when you attach leads. If the meter does not move that is the element that is bad.

### The pilot is ok.the main burner does not come on

First check and see if the dial on the gas valve is on the ON position. Next turn the thermostat up all the way.if it does not come on then, this sounds crazy, but, tap the gas valve twice lightly with the back end of a screw driver, sometimes a spec of dirt can clog the gas valve and this releases it. if it still doesnt come on, you need a Volt Ohms meter or multi meter, set the meter to millivolts, you want to connect the 2 leads from the meter to the terminals on the gas valve that the 2 wires from the pilot generator, located next to the main burner underneath tank. turn the meter on and the millivolts should read a minimum of 400 milivolts, if lower, replace pilot generator. If still doesnt work, replace gas valve.

### How much gas (energy) does a rheem HT55 use per hour in average?

I think HT55 is Australian water heater.
You can add a comment and describe the product in detail since I cannot find that number listed on Rheem site.
The problem with water heater ratings is they are meant as industry comparisons for new units that are operating at peak performance. They do not account for factors at your location such as mineral build up, incoming water temperature, faulty parts, un-maintained parts, obstructed venting, etc.

To get accurate number will require work on your part:
1) You can add a gas meter to that one appliance.

2) Or look at gas meter reading at beginning of day. Digital gas meter would be necessary.
Turn off all other gas appliances, or make sure just the pilot light is only thing operating.
For a full day, let the HT55 operate normally.
Read gas meter at end of day.
Analog meter would be hard to read with only one day.

3) Another way is to look at BTU rating of all gas appliances on the same meter.
Figure weighted average of each appliance based on amount of time each appliance operates and amount of gas it consumes when running. Then figure percentage of gas that HT55 consumes. Read the gas meter one day, and then read meter again 30 days later, and take percentage that HT55 consumes.
