SOURCE: i do have a 1999 grand marquis w/ belt problem the belt does not have enough tension so i did change a new tensioner abd also a new pulley still have the same problem belt is too loos

If the belt worked properly before then it may have stretched and needs to be replaced. If you recently changed the belt and discovered the slipping problem, you have the worng belt on your car.

My 1997 chrysler t &c is making a loud clunking noise, steers hard and overheats. Mechanic says it's tension pully. does that sound right

It sounds like it to me. Your van has a serpentine belt which is pulled tightly by the tensioner pulley, hint the name "tension" pulley. If this is defective you will experience the problems/symptoms you have listed, hard steering, over heating, and the clunking, which must be the defective tension pulley. All those problems should resolve immediately after it is replaced. Don't forget to replace the serpentine belt too, for preventative measures. How this helps...

How to tighten a serpentine belt on 2000 chrysler cirrus

Try this, adjust the belt tension so that the belt is sloppy and then tighten the center bolt. If the pulley is straight that I am going to bet that the belt is stretched or wrong and the tensioner puller is bottomed out which would make it go crooked.

My drive belt on a1997 chrysler sebring is off can you tell me how to put it on.

If this car has a v-6 (2.5). You have to loosen the belt tensioner. It is located along the side of the passengers wheel well. Turn the passengers tire outwards, and kneel down. Look inside the wheel weel, and about the same line of sight as your eyes when you look in there you will see, a bolt, and a pulley, with a bolt in the center of the pulley. Loosen the pulley bolt first, and then loosen the tensioner bolt, Pun on belt careful to watch the routing, and pull pulley tight, with hand, and then tighten the tensinner bolt. Belt should be taught, but not very tight. Then tighten the pulley bolt.
