here are some things to try first before calling repair person.
unplug the unit, if you can remove the unit , do it., IF NOT, JUST REMOVE THE ICE TRAY UNIT, leave unplugged for 30 minutes.

My Icemaker won't keep the ice once it makes it

What make and model of ice maker do you have?
Is the unit making ice? If so, about how much?

Most commercial bin type ice makers are not engineered to maintain the ice once it drops into the bin. Older ice is intended to melt and the water should drain out of the bin as new ice is deposited on top.

It may be that you are consuming ice at a rate greater than the unit is designed to produce ice, or that the unit is not set to the highest ice production rate (if adjustable).

Alternatively, if the inside of the bin is hot (warm) you may have another problem with the unit (e.g., gasket leak). Was the unit previously working? If so, are you aware of any events that took place just prior to the change?

Some units have a defrost or a cleaning mode, which will actually generate heat inside the unit. Make sure the unit is set to the correct mode.

first check ice making unit is filled with ice, if empty sounds like ice maker water inlet valve not operating.if ice bath full then problem with ice making unit itself, either heater, ice harvest switch or geared paddle motor faulty.either way would recommend changing out the whole unit, alot less fuss and not too expensive

Freezer is icing up. Unit is about 2 yrs old

You need to check out the back of the freezer. At the current status, it may be locked with ice. Have it defrosted or just have it melted away. Clean the coils and the entire unit. Either the drains were blocked by food debris or dirt causing water to accumulate and ice to form or the thermistor has been iced or is faulty or too much ice accumulated in the unit's coils.

No ice is being made, but the unit is on and water is hooked-up.

Depending on the model you have. Your unit will run until the thermostat is satisfied. The it calls for water. Then the next batch will have ice.If its a clear ice then the unit should start to make ice right away. However it will take 5 cycles to get the ice the right size. What model is it?

Sub-Zero 550 - freezer unit is chilling, but not freezing

Ice maker was intermittent at best - ice was often just a shell. After two failures to correct we had the ice maker (a Whirlpool - on a Sub Zero - Go figure) replaced. Then the paddle that detects the ice level broke. Next step a new GE.

Air conditioner freezing up

Your unit is low on freon. Take the unit to a service facility & have it recharged & the leak repaired. Note that ice formation may normal if the outside temperature is below 45-50F. If you must use it in the meantime, leaving the unit on fan only will melt the ice much faster.
