How do I cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil on my hoover dual vac shampooer

The center part of the valve (stem) pushes up (spring loaded) to release liquid. If it leaks it can (and should) be replaced. Also, check the black valve seal (conical shaped ring around the outside) for cracks or splits as this can contribute to leaks. The entire valve assembly (similar to photo) should be replaced to solve both issues.

I have a Hoover V Steam Vac model F7412. The tank for the clean water and cleaner fluid leaked out the bottom. I purchased a new tank but something in that area is still leaking. I know it is not the...

My clean solution tank is leaking from the bottom, too. It is not a hose or a valve. The clean solution tank is leaking in-between the clear plastic walls of the solution tank & the grey plastic bottom that are connected, together. I was thinking of caulking it all around the bottom where the clear plastic sides join the grey bottom plastic. I can't get into ordering a new one (spending $) unless Hoover will send me a new one for free. Purchased at Kohl's in Massapequa, NY in June 2008. There's a one year warrantee AND the directions say to EMPTY the solution tank after each use. Which I normally do because the tank runs dry.

Hoover f7458-900 leaking when placing tank on

Hello! Test the clean water tank to see if it is leaking. Fill the clean water tank with water on both sides. Hold the tank up and observe if water leaks from the valves underneath the tank. If either of the valves are leaking the clean water tank will need to be replaced. To order a replacement tank follow this link > Search Results. If the tank is not leaking, but the cleaner leaks when the tank is placed on it, this may indicate an internal issue with your pump. We would recommend taking the cleaner to a Hoover authorized service center. Follow the link to locate the nearest service center to you. > Service Center Locator Hope this helps!

F7220-900 leaking but tanks don't leak

This sounds like a bad O ring on the metering plate, the plate that the solution tank rests on. Not the easiest fix but can be done in the right environment. I can give you some part numbers to start but you're better off having a shop that is familiar with these do the work.

Names and part numbers to get you started in finding a shop.
O ring #25156522
Metering Plate #38764031
and worst case scenario a cracked supply tank support assembly #41423018.
Explaining the problem to the service personnel and mentioning these parts will put them in the right place to fix your problem.

Leaking tank

(1) Does water or chemical leak from the tank when filled, but before it is installed? If not, then the tank is OK.
(2) If the tank is not properly aligned to the lower handle when assembled and latched, the black rubber seals on the handle will not seal to the tank. You may wish to look at this. Also, make sure both round black rubber seals are present on the flat mount where the tank valves will sit.
