Question about Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD-603SS Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

How do I replace the drain valve flap (528625P) on the bottom of the upper drawer in a Fisher Paykel 603?

Help from anyone who has removed and serviced the top drawer is appreciated. I have only serviced the bottom drawer, and it can rest on the floor. I don't know if my spouse can hold the top drawer long enough for me to figure this out.

SOURCE: fisher and paykel DD-603 dish drawer

Hi there, If you have had an F1 you need to dry out the product in order to reset the flood switch. This is a simple process as follows: 1. Ensure product is disconnect from wall so that it has no power. 2. Open the bottom drawer and put your hand in through the gap where the bottom of the bottom drawer comes out and feel the base of the cabinet that houses the drawers for water. 3. If there is water present dry it out as much as you can with paper towels or old rags. This machine is designed to drain all water to the front of the base of the cabinet away from the flood switch that sits at the back left corner of the cabinet base that the drawers are fitted into. 4. When you have base of the cabinet dry you need to ensure that the switch has not moisture on it in order for it to reset and allow you to start using the product. This can be done 2 ways: 1. leave bottom drawer open for 24-48 hours to allow natural air circulation to dry out the connection. or 2. position a hair dryer to blow air into the back left corner of the base of the cabinet and dry it out quicker. This still make take up to 6 hours as the flood switch had a protective cover over it to try to prevent F1's for small spills. 5. When the product had been dried out, important that you make sure it has, when you switch on the machine the F1 should be gone and ready to use. Please run each drawer seperately on a rinse cycle to confirm to yourself that it flooding was possibly caused by something blocking the sprayarm, or something stacked too high or something got stuck in the pump temporarily stopping it from draining effectively or the product suddsing too much from spilt rinse aide in one of the drawers. If each drawer runs successfully you should be in the all clear to start using it again. Please note though: if something blocks the spray arm that is directly linked to the pump your drawer will flood as a result. If you have something stuck in the pump peventing it from draining effectively ie a toothpick or piece of broken crockery this will cause your product to flood, but you will hear an louder than normal sound when the pump is running. And finally if you spill rinse aide in your drawer when filling it clean all spilt rinse aide to prevent unit from over sudsing when running. Regards KAR-Ltd

The dishwasher while running began to beep constantly and then BOTH drawers began to beep with blue lights and read F1 with the small picture of a wrench. It will not turn off but keeps beeping with flashing lights.

SOURCE: Fisher & Paykel DD601 top drawer won't start.

Most likely the micro-switch that tells the controller that the drawer is closed is broken. Its a tiny little black switch at the back of the left drawer slide, it had a metal actuator that is prone to breaking.

SOURCE: I have a Fisher Paykel dishwasher with water in top drawer

You need a Air gap kit designed by Fisher and Paykel to address this problem. It is pricey but it is worthy. I used this and very happy with it since no back flow problem from one while other running. Here is a link to order it.http://www.fisherpaykelparts.net/product/WT50/WT50-Dual-Air-Gap-Kit/

How do I relace the drain flapper valve (528625P) on the bottom of the upper drawer in my Fisher Paykel 603?

9.9.1 Remove the drawer front
9.9.2 With the tub opened release the tub clips and push back the
drawer rails.
9.9.3 Carefully release the four wiring cover clips from the front
lower section of the tub taking care not to damage them.
9.9.4 Release the three clips on the underside of the tub which
retain the wiring cover.
9.9.5 Pull the tub fully open and lift it up at the front (this makes it
easier to remove the wiring cover from the rear of the tub).
9.9.6 The wiring cover may now be carefully moved forward to
release it from the rear of the tub.

.
9.10.6 Unclip the drain hose cuff from the motor assembly taking care not to misplace the non-return flap valve so you know where it sits.
Replace flap valve and refit in reverse order.

Not sure why you need to take the top drawer out if you have already got the bottom drawer out and only need to replace the valve in bottom drawer.

You can do 2 things: If this problem persists it means that the "flap" that prevents the water from draining into the drawer needs to be replaced, unfortunately this is a common problem with this model if you are a frequent user. In the meantime what the tech does to empty the drawer is to run the shortest cycle which will empty drawer but you know if you need the "flap" to be replaced if the problem persists.

F2 Fisher Paykel 603 issue

You can download the service manual from
http://www.fisherpaykelparts.net/index.php?categoryid=115&productid=18 at a cost of $20

But if you can go through the user guide which is free from
http://www.fisherpaykel.com/admin/pdfs/pdf_usecares/527971B_DD_user_guide_USw.pdf

you should be able to work out how to remove the impeller and rotor once you have taken out the filter plate. It needs a slight twist and pull at the same time. It is likely there is some debris between the drain filter and the rotor cavity. You may need to insert a thin stiff wire through the drain filter sump.

Josh, you will need to have a Tech out to look at it... F/P will not sell you parts to repair it. The F1 indicates that the flood switch has been tripped. There are many possible causes for this but probably the upper drawer link support has broken and is getting stuck between the lid and the drawer in which case you will need a new lid and link support.

Fisher paykel drain tube sliced

I just took out the drawer for the first time on my 603 and it is a pleasure! However, you may not have to remove the drawer if it is the top one as the drain tube is accessible without removing the drawer. You will have to remove the plastic shield on the bottom...it has 7 plastic clips ... two pairs of two in the very front of the drawer, 3 big ones on the big circular plastic part. It also has two plastic spade 'aligners' in the back of the single plastic shield... those need to go in first before clicking in the others. I had to fuss with this a little until I understood how it was attached, but everything snaps in place.
Once you get the plastic shield off (it looks a little like the Starship Enterprise and is almost 20" or so long) you have access to the drain hose. It also clips into the drain housing with two plastic clips... be careful with these, they take some gentle persuading to come off and release the drain hose. Once you disconnect the drainhose, you can replace it (if that is what you have chosen to do). THe adapter at the end of the hose that plugs into the pump housing looks pretty unique to Fisher-Paykel so I suspect that you will need to order that. The alternative would be to get some kind of adapter for the hose and cut off the part with the split. Insert the adapter (adapts between the now two open ends of the hose) or adapt to some other hose which you can run to the sink drain... that may be the easiest approach, come to think of it.

good luck

Fisher & paykel 2 drawer unit

yes there is. It is just inside the white hoses that drain the system. 1 per drawer. They cost about $0.50 but are a real pain to get to. This flap will go bad in about 3-5 years and maybe sooner depending on the temp of the water used.

If the bottom flap goes bad, using the top drawer will drain into the bottom drawer.
