SOURCE: Why is my printer printing black dots on the page.

Some of the adhesive or a part of the label is probably stuck to the drum.
Never use a supply item that did not come from the maker of your machine.
You probably will see the goo on the drum if you take it out and rotate it's drive gear by hand. You could try cleaning it off but you may only put more marks on the drum.
If I am right ,you will need to replace the drum unit.

It is also likely that something is stuck on the roller in the fuser but not as likely.

Testimonial: "I found the problem I think. There is a gouge or mark on the roller in the fuser. I'm guessing when I pulled out the stuck labels the adhesive pulled up some of the roller. :( I went and bought a new printer."

Have this and a Brother 4040. BOTH are producing random splatter dots. Mostly black, but a few cyan. Replaced the toner with OEM, replaced the drum set with OEM, but the spatters continue. Cleaned the drum...

Remove the transfer belt and clean it GENTLY with alcohol (Iso-propanol preferred but Meths will work) on a cotton ball or very soft cloth. Rotate the belt as needed until all the surface has been cleaned. You may need to go round several times to clean off persistent spots. Patience is better than pressure. If spatters continue check the fusers. It is also possible that there are toner spots on the drums which can also be cleaned off with Iso-propanol on a cotton ball

It is likely the fault at toner cart. May be paper dust or any small particle clogged in cleaning blade of the toner cart, that ma be cleaned with dry cotton lint free cloth. take care not to scratch the green OPC drum, if dots are marked on the surface of OPC drum clean with isopropyle alcohol.
take care not blow toner as it fine bellow 50 micron.

Thanks.

Consistent dots down print

Try to print clean page ,
Print a cleaning page During the printing process, paper, toner, and dust particles can accumulate inside the printer and can cause print quality issues such as toner specks or spatter, smears, streaks, lines or repeating marks. Follow these steps to clean the printer's paper path.
  1. Load copier-grade paper (not bond, heavy, or rough paper).
  2. On the printer's control panel, touch the Menu button.
  3. Touch Configure Device .
  4. Touch Print Quality .
  5. Touch Process Cleaning Page .
A Cleaning message appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. The cleaning process takes a few minutes to complete. Do not turn the printer off until the cleaning process has finished. A page will be printed when the task is complete. Discard the page. You might need to repeat the cleaning process to thoroughly clean the printer. Print a few more pages to see if the problem is resolved.

I have a problem with the colour prints...there are different kind of lines all over the page..how can i clean the laser heads?is there any automatically way?

Hi,
Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are due to deteriorating cartridges and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines. (corresponding to the location where you are having a green line on the paper)
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and there is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Moreover, streaks (thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. Replace the Cartridge or get the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Try cleaning the toners and see if it makes any difference. You would also have an idea about the toner drum/ parts quality etc and check if they need to be replaced. Furthermore, issues with Laser Unit like dust/ toner dust on the lenses and mirrors inside the printer usually result in faded or discolored prints. For instance, faded text/ picture at certain areas or any color missing when you print.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Quilt y of print !, it gives double printing on page one is print of original doc.& second as its image what should i do to improve its print quilt y. i will be thank full to you

Hi,
Dots, Lines, shadows and smudges on the printouts are due to dirty/ deteriorating cartridge and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines.
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and ther is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots. Double printing is also due to the deteriorating cartridge. The drum is not getting clean after its each rotation and hence the remaining toner/ image is transferred to the paper resulting in double printing. So, it is recommended that clean the drum etc (this would help temporarily). Also, make sure that the toner cartridge is in good working condition. If not you may replace the cartridge.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Toner specks along the edge of the page

Rev. Gregory.
Its looks like you have a small pinhole, or divot, on a imaging conponent that is common to all four toner cartridges. Remove the drum unit from the prtr and keeping the green handle close to you pull back the shutter which covers the drum, and look for spots of toner at the either end. If you hold the page with the spots on it, with the leading edge centered and touching the drum, it will give you some idea where the edgeis relative to the end of the drum. If you can't see any corresponding spots on the drum surface.
Put the drum unit back into the prtr and allow the prtr to restart, then switch off and remove drum, this will have turned the drum to a new position, and should show any defects. Only expose the uncovered drum to light for a minute at a time, and avoid touching the surface.
Let me know what you find.
Cheers

Black spots are appearing on the left margin of the page. It's only six weeks old, so I don't think it's the cartridge or drum. Is there another solution?

Four dots middle of page

How do I clean white or black spots on printed documents? Description: First make 10 to 15 copies of a blank, white sheet of paper.
If you still see the spots on printed documents after making multiple copies, clean the drum unit as follows:

  1. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly, and then remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.
  2. Position the print sample in front of the drum unit so you will know the exact position on the drum that is causing the poor print.
  3. all-ug-19.gif
  4. Turn the black gear on the drum as you check the surface of the OPC drum.
The OPC drum is photosensitive so do not touch it with your fingers.
  5. all-ug-20.gif
  6. When you find the substance on the drum surface that matches the print sample, gently dab the surface of the OPC drum with a cotton swab that is lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
  7. Note
      • Do not use a scrubbing or wiping motion because this might damage the drum.

      • Do not try to clean the surface of the OPC drum with a sharp object, such as a ball-point pen, because this might cause permanent damage to the drum unit.
  8. If the print quality still has not improved you need to install a new drum.
