Hey there, I should be able to walk you through this. First I need to know hat knid of system you have. Is it a split system, one unit inside, one outside. Is it a heat pump, gas furnace. And also what kind of tstat do you have. Is anything running, fans compressor, let me know what is and what is not.

OK, does the system run on gas for heat or do you know if its a heat pump?

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

try looking for a make and model number on the outdoor unit. The number you posted is not any good.

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

OK, you got a heat pump, if you turn the thermstat up so there is a call for heat, make sure the fan in the house turns on (sounds like it is) then go outside. The fan outside should be running and you should also be able to hear the compressor runnin, a loud motor inside the unit, let me know what you find. Depending on the equipment, there may be time delays in the thermostat and/or outdoor unit. Give 10 mins at most for the outdoor to come on, usually 5 min after indoor comes on. The fan and compressor should both come on outside at the same time

would the model number KF-60GW/A make sense, it would be on a tag somewhere listed under model number or m/n

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

Ok that is good news, very carefully, fell the pipes going from the outside to inside, the bigger one may be very hot do not grab it

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

I am still having troubles fing the manufacturer of your unit, is there a name or design on the side of it somewhere or on the remote if you have one

Why can i see outside looking into my air conditioner?

It extracts the heat from inside your home to the outside, that's how an air conditioner works. It also bring in some fresh air from the outside. You should have a damper that can be closed if needed. If you have gaps around the unit, then seal it with some weather striping material. It is wise to cover the air conditioner during the winter months to prevent any cold air from coming in. Hope this helps!

Heat/AC unit in working order, plugged in 20Amp outlet.. no fan?

Hi1
Do you have at least 200 volts at your outlet? Check that first. You said you brought it home from work, so when you plugged it in at home did you plug it into a 120 volt recepticle?

Moved into a new house with a goodman air conditioner. it is also the heater (?). No experience with this. Is there something we need to do when switching from air conditioning to heating? we turned it to...

Well it might be a heatpump. Where it uses the A/C portion of the system to draw heat from out side and place it into you home. If its a new home I would call for a Check-Up its only $60 to $80. But dont buy anything you dont need like a new thermostat. Just tell them to check the refrigernt levels and to tell you if everything is runing ok.
