My netgear wireless-n150 USB adapter wna1100 can't detect adapter.

First determine that the USB port isn't dead. Do other things work in that USB port? If the answer is yes we know it's not the port. Have you tried another USP port? If it doesn't work in another port (or on another computer's USB port) then it's the adapter itself.

Adapters can go bad. USB ports usually work and don't go out. The exception is that many laptops that come with several USB ports sometimes have one (or more) that never did work.

Try it on another computer. This is one last step to determine if the adapter itself is dead and that it isn't something on/with your computer.

It also could be that the computer has the old USB 1 port and the adapter needs USB 2. (USB 1 was slower).

My hp wireless mouse quit new battery's, reboot pc, reset mouse button, no light, seems dead "-(

HI there,

There is one sure-fire way to see if your mouse is alive. Plug its wireless receiver into a different computer and see if it works on that one. If it does, then you know that the USB port on the computer you usually use has the problem.

If it won't work on another computer then the sending unit inside the mouse, or the receiving unit you plug into the USB port is dead.

Best Regards,

Marcus

I have a model m01517 5 port usb hub. It has 2 usb cables to the computer, do I use the blue or black connector? I can only get one port to recognize a device plugged in the other four seem to be dead,...

Not sure I understand this hub either. Looks like only one port is a USB 2.0 port, but here is a snippet from the manual......

This iConcepts USB Hub provides the electronic interface between USB devices and the host, It allows up to five USB devices or Hubs to connect an upstream USB Hub or Host port.

Features
• One USB 2.0 port
• 4 Port USB 1.1 and support high speed (480 mbps) and 4 port full speed (12 mbps) operations.
• The USB 2.0 port can operate both USB 2.0 & 1.1 Devices
• USB 2.0 port supports self powered mode and bus - powered mode, indicated by a powered LED .
• Over current detection and protection

Computer isn't noticing USB is there. USB is not lighting up orange.

Try another USB port, to see if you have a "dead" USB port.

Try the flash-drive in a different computer, to see if the flash-drive is "dead".

Try a different USB device in the USB port on your computer, to see if _any_ device in that port can be detected.

The usb ports will not work, therefore the mouse nor the keyboard will work

Try the mouse in a computer where the USB ports *DO* work.

It is possible that your system does not have the correct "device-drivers" for the USB ports. Thus, those USB ports seem to be "dead".

Turn the computer off.
Connect a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 mouse.
Turn the computer on.
Click START
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Expand the "USB ports" section of the tree.
Look for "yellow" or "red" marks.
Double-click one of those "problem" devices.
Choose "Reinstall Driver".
If it asks to be able to connect to the Internet, click "yes, this time".
Hopefully, this will install the correct drivers for your USB ports.

I connect key board but it seems dead iam using

I suggest you look in your device manager for a problem with the driver for your computer. The keyboard may be defective, id suspect the driver. Remove the driver/device and let XP fix it for you (reboot)

If you dont know how to do these things, please let me know

Let me know if this works for you

Dead USB Ports...

First go into Device manager and see if there is a Yellow! or a Red (x) next to any of the USB ports. If so right click and there will be a tab with solutions. If that doesn't get you anywhere go into BIOS and search for all of the USB ports. You should be able to add or turn onto Automatic to get them going. USB is simply a port, so some kind of the way the ports either got shut off or they are blocked.

Dead USB Ports...

Have you checked drivers not only for the usb, but for the chipset of the system itself. Also, have you installed service pack 2?

Might also just visually inspect for troublesome fingers in the ports themselves; often get bent and short out.

Good luck
