When i put paper in it to shred it cuts then stops. ihave to physically hold the shred button for it to shred?

sounds like the paper in switch is either worn, or loose. Not much you can do unless you replace the switch. Look in the slot where you would place the paper and see if you see a small lever. If you do, watch it when you place paper in and get the shredder to work.
Does it happen on single sheets or multiple sheets. If just single, try multiple sheets and see if it works better.
good luck

Auto off does not work how do I fix this?

Check to see if the feed is clogged up. If it is, clean it out and try to shred. These machines don't last forever, it may be worn out and time to buy a new one.

You must first unplug it and look inside the shredding blades, especially around the spot usually near the center, where there is a pressure button. When paper hits it, it starts shredding. Chances are some pieces of paper have jammed just over it stopping paper from hitting it and switching it on. I have had to use long tweezers to work the jammed bits out... Once clear it will work again. Also using shredder oil every 50 sheets through will help it cut easier , and jam less frequently. Do not put too many sheets through together in a bunch. No staples...

Hello my nane is Tom. The shredder doesn't work. It will run in reverse but when I turn it to forward it run for a second or two than stops. I looked and I can't see anything jamed in it.

I got mine to work by running it on reverse for a moment then sliding it to auto. It stopped. Then I did it again. This time auto ran just for a second then stopped. I did it a third time but I had a sheet of paper ready in the feeder. Ran on reverse. Slid it to auto and it took the paper and shred it. I did it a fourth time. Reverse slide auto and feed shred the paper. Fifth time Auto shred the paper without reverse. :)

ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.
