P0351 loss of power ? That's not what this code is about . P0351 - Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit ,you have a bad coil and possibly a bad coil driver inside the PCM . Do yourself a favor an take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop !

I HAVE REPLACED THE COIL PACKS AND THE COMPUTER ON MY 2006 F150,BUT I STILL GET AN ERROR CODE OF 352.WHY IS THIS ?

No spark at spark plug could the coil be bad and how do you test it ?


put an insulation screw driver in the wire end that connects to the cap, obviously disconnecting it from the cap. Crank over and move metal part of screw driver next to some metal and you should see a spark coming from the wire to ground if coil is good.

How do I check the ignition coil


Ignition Coil Primary Circuit Test

Remove the coil. THEN set your ohmmeter scale to RX1 and place ohmmeter leads on the primary coil windings A (front of coil) to B (middle of coil), B to C (front of coil) and check for primary coil winding resistance which normal resistance range is zero point five and zero point seven ohms. If primary resistance is not within this range check out test results below.


Ignition Coil Secondary Circuit Test

With the ignition coil removed from the motorcycle and the ohmmeter set to the RX1K scale place the ohmmeter leads on the secondary coil windings B (middle terminal) to

R (rear secondary terminal/socket), B to F (front secondary terminal/socket) and check for secondary coil winding resistance which normal resistance range will be 5.5-7.5K ohms. If secondary resistance is not within this range check out test results below.


Test Results

A low resistance value indicates a short in the coil winding which requires coil replacement.


A high resistance value might indicate that there is some corrosion/oxidation of the coil terminals requiring the coil terminals to be cleaned and the resistance test then repeated and if after the test is repeated the resistance is still high after the terminals were cleaned the coil must be replaced.

If there is an infinite ohms or no continuity) resistance value the coil is open and must be replaced.

Bike has no spark


Check your pick-up sensor located inside the timing cover, behind the adjustor plate. If the filament is not intact you will have no spark.
A defective coil, cam position sensor, or stator will also cause a no spark condition.

I have an 05 softail duece with manual choke, engine will turn over fine but I have no fire at the plugs, installed new plugs, still no fire

Pilot will lite but burner will not when you go from pilot to on


Hi.

When this happens it usually means that one of the coils is defective. The burner valve is operated by three or two coils. If one of the coils is bad the pilot will lit but the valve won't stay open when the oven is supposed to turn on.

Test the coils reading impedance at their contacts. If a coil is open (shows Ohms infinity at the multimeter reading), then the coil must be replaced.

If the coils are fine test the thermostats (always reading impedance) and replace the coils if thermostats are fine. Check also pressure regulator and ensure that the flame is OK.

Other part that could cause the problem is the flame sensor. The flame sensor is difficult to test and fails really uncommonly. The sensor works in parallel with the coils. The part is tested reading Volts. Flame sensor is usually tested and replaced only when there is no other possible cause for the problem, after testing coils and thermostats and eventually replacing coils.

I have a first generation 83 yamaha venture 1200 v 4 i have power to only 3 of the ignition coils the fourth coil has tested good by taking #3 lead and plugging into #4 coil. any ideas on what part to...


Okay...when you say power to the coil...I think you mean getting a spark on the plug wire?

All 4 coils should have battery voltage on the red/white wire to each coil. The second wire returns to the igniter (TCI....ignition black box) and it switches that wire off and on to ground to cause the coils to fire. If all 4 test good...then
Check out the TCI, the large box mounted on the coil rack that the connectors are clean.
Now remove the 6 wire connector from the TCI...and test the resistance of the pickup coils which are located under the left crankcase cover beside the stator coil.
you will be testing the following wire pairs on the 6 wire connector
Orange-Black
White/Red-Black
Gray-Black
White/Green-Black
You should see at ambient engine temp...about 110 ohms resistance on all 4 pairs.....if one pair is showing no resistance...you need to test at the lower 5 wire connector just below the seat left side with the same 5 colors....unhook and test....if still having one bad test...pickup coils may be bad.
