SOURCE: water only heats to 160 degrees on my 12 cup

I broke down and ordered the thermal cutoff switch you need from an electrical component warehouse. It was fairly simple to install and the coffeemaker has worked great every day since (over two months now, a full pot every morning), but since the minimum order was 15 cutoff switches I now have 14 that I won't need for (hopefully) quite a while. If anyone else wants one I'll drop it in the mail for $10, including postage, to anywhere in Canada or the continental US. I'll even include detailed instructions and graphics. There is minimal soldering involved, but it is strictly in-line and open so there's no circuit-board work. I did everything on the kitchen counter.

Trash it. The thrift shops and 2nd hand stores are FULL of B&D coffee makers. You can get one that works for $5-15. New at Walmart for $12.

It wont brew

Carefully clean the sharp pin that pouches the hole in the top of the k-cups by inserting a toothpick or paperclip into the hole where the water is pushed into the k-cup.You need to descale it by cycling some vinegar and water through it. Pour a couple cups of vinegar and a cup of water in the reservoir push the large cup size, you can reuse the vinegar mix just don't pour any grounds back into the resevoir.Do this several times (you should see noticeable improvement)then run some clean tap water through so your coffee doesn't taste like vinegar. Hope this helps!Justin

Need to clean cuisinart 12 cup coffee on demand coffe pot. How do I clean?

Do you have the DCC-2000?

To delime a multi-cup coffee maker, mix white vinegar with water (1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water) and fill the water reservoir completely. Then turn the coffee maker on. Wait until the unit completes the "brewing" cycle and beeps 5 times. Turn off the coffee maker. Discard the liquid after the cycle. Then fill the reservoir with clean water and turn on again. When this cycle completes, again discard the liquid. Repeat the water rinse if you notice an odd taste to the coffee afterwards. (If the coffee maker still has deposits, repeat the vinegar cleaning cycle and rinse cycles.) There are commercial deliming products, mix them with water following the package directions.

The manual for the DCC-2000 is available as a link here: http://www.cuisinart.com/products/coffee_bar/dcc-2000.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/dcc-2000.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Clean black stuf out of telfon soleptate steam iron. its old.

Every now and then, its a good option to clean your iron with a candle. Just rub the wax on it, when its heating up, and clean with a soft cloth.
If its really stuck, there is another solution in adition to the wax:
Measure one cup of warm water, and pour it into a bowl. Add one-half cup of vinegar and two teaspoons of baking powder to the water. When the baking powder is dissolved into the liquids, soak a soft cloth into the mixture and clean your iron with circular motions.

Discolorization(orange) inside coffee maker.

Try mixing in some vinegar with your water (about a cup) and run it through a cycle, this may clean it out.

Funny tasting coffee

Vinegar/water cleaning is a good idea, but it won't necessarilly solve funny-tasting coffee. First, replace your charcoal water filter - you can get the Cuisinart brand-name replacements at Lowe's, Bed/Bath/Beyond, or Williams-Sonoma in most areas.

To do the vinegar/water cleaning, just pour 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 2/3 caraffe water into the water reservoir and brew it like it was regular coffee - I would simply bypass the self-clean function if your Cuisinart has one. Repeat up to 3 times, using a fresh batch of vinegar each time.
(if you have the caraffe-less DCC-2000, then just pour in 4 cups vinegar and 6 cups water).

Then run a full cycle of water. Then run a combo of 12 tsp lemon juice and 12 cups water (or 10 tsp and 10 cups water) to improve the taste.

On your next batch of coffee, use bottled water just to rule out any possibility that your local water supply may be contributing to funny-tasting coffee.

Now your coffee should be tasting fine again.

Slow brew time / water disappears?

I have this problem with a 4 cup model. 4 cups in, 2 cups out. I cleaned it twice with vinegar (with a filter in place). The first time didn't seem to help, but the second time I got about 2.5 cups out, along with a bunch of old grounds that I think had been sucked into the pump. Ran water through it twice, and now it gets to about 3 cups.

I think the problem is just that the pump is clogged with grounds. If vinegar makes yours worse my guess is that a big piece got dislodged and is now blocking the tube. More vinegar might help.
