Hi folks. My printer is an HP Photosmart C6183. I bought it in Abu Dhabi. Now I live in Macau. I already chatted with hp and they said that C6100 cartridges would work in my C6183. They fit but wont work. Any ideas? Thanks,CSC

I purchased two complete sets of cartridges recently in Canada. I've only tried the yellow one so far. The new yellow cart in a #02. The old one was a #177. The printer was purchased in Abu Dhabi but I now live in Macau.

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

the error message is just that it wants me to replace the cartridge with a #177!

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

    Ekse... are you still there?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

some other printers seemed to have been fixed by resetting the printer region. Is that not possible with this printer?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

Hi. Other people seemed to haved solved their problem by re-setting the printer "region"
My printer is a HP Photosmart C6183. I'm trying to use region 1 ink cartridges for this region 3 machine. Can I reset the regionfor this printer like other models have?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

    Thanks,

I tried that and also changed the 6 cartridges but the new error message is that 177 type cartridges need to be installed

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

what i did was follow your instructions to change the region but the old cartridges were still in the printer. Since I changed the country to canada where I bought the new cartridges, I replaced the old Abu dhabi carts with the new Canadian cartridges. The error message says that I have the wrong cartridges installed and I need to exchange them with the old #177 ones.

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

    Stlii there?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

what I meant was still there?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

still no joy with the printer.

might have to buy a new one or can we reset the region some other way?

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

the correct cartridges for the printer are 177. At the moment, I have 02 cartridges purchased in Canada in the printer. When I was in Canada I chatted with someone from the hp help service centre and they said that 02 cartridges "would work in any series 6100 printer" so that's why I bought them there.

  • charlie444 Jun 19, 2009

the 177's work but the yellow ran out of ink. Then I tried to buy another one but you cant get them here in Macau

Hey, I'm not quite following you, you say changed them again? to what? go to the following link, it is saying that for your country, PRC, you need cartridges #177.

Yes I'm here sorry. Sounds to me like you do need the 177 cartridges. Tell exectly which ones you have in there now and let's see if we can make those work, they are i believe the canadian region? What are the numberr on them.

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

Ichecked canda region, I'm not sure where you are getting the cartridge numbers from but the one you need is #177

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

I think you just need the 177 printry cartridge, have you used that one yet or just the #2.

  • seth veloso Jun 19, 2009

Ok I found a chart for ya, the problem is they are talking about the
region of the pen tha dispense ink, guessing they have slight
variations in different zones. Canada has type 1 where a #2 will
work. You have type 3 (from zone 3) so you must use #177. Where a 177
may work in yours, it won't work in the guy's that said you need a
number 2. Sorry to say but you need to buy #177's and hopefully you
can return the other ones that you bought.

Also do you get any error messages? Please make sure the protective tape is removed from the new cartridges and reinstall the cartridges as shown here:

  • Ekse Jun 19, 2009

I see the problem, you purchased the printer at zone #3 which requires the cartridge set: 177 the set you purchased in usa wont work. There are 4 zones with different set of cartridges.

You have to purchase the 177 set to get the machine to work.

  • Ekse Jun 19, 2009

    Yes I am here.

The region is programmed into the printer, I suppose it could be changed by programming the printer with another zones firmware / internal software.

What is the Postal code for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates?

There is no postal code for Abu Dhabi or any other City/Emirate in the United Arab Emirates. There is only Post office Box number. So if u need to write an address, it goes like

Mr. ABC
P.O Box.No. 12345,
Abu Dhabi, U.A.E
When completing on-line forms that require a zip or postal code for the UAE, simply type in 4 0's (0000), this is normally enough to be able to bypass this feature. Do not use 0000 on any written correspondence as it has no significance to the postal services at all.

HP PHOTOSMART C6100 All in One series ran out of yellow and for the first time since we bought it it did not give us the option to print in black only. Message says Ink System Failure...cannot print fax...

I called HP for troubleshooting assistance. My printer HP All- in-One is only 2 years old. They were very nice to run through a series of steps with me...only to tell me that "It is broken" and I will need to buy a new one. So that's my solution for today....Which leads me to the next question...Do I get another HP or something else??
