The motor controller weakens over time because of the excessive amperage draw of the motor do to lack of lubrication (which wears the walk belt and walking deck).

Take an amperage reading of the motor it should be 2-3 amps with no one on it, with someone walking on it it should be around 6-12 amps. I would bet yours is elevated above 6-12 amps. The controller is dropping output because of the friction problem.

The first thing to try after testing the amperage is to lubricate the walking platform. Then retest and see if the amperage comes down and it doesn't shut off.

If it does then the next step would be to replace the walking deck. If the amperage still is up you may need to replace the walk belt second and finally if after replacing the deck and belt, if the unit is still shutting down replace the motor controller.

The only weak spot on the main controller board is the small rechargeable battery or a lithium button cell.
The memory battery is to keep the parameter information.
When the battery is damaged the liquid (electrolytic) drips downward on to other electronic items.
Any items under the "drip" pathway will need to be inspected and clean.
The battery can be on the front or rear on the main board,

Spend some time to locate this battery,
A simple $12 item can stop the unit from operating!

Please email me the part number or spec, info on the battery on reply.

SOURCE: I have a New Balance 1400 Treadmill. I turns on

I have a Horizon Treadmill that had the same error, it turned out to be a calibration using the adjustments on the logic board. The New Balance does not show the calibration procedure, but you can call 800-497-5831 for service. Hopefully it is still under warranty.

Fan problems

this is indicative the some electronics components is in short circuit in the pcb. You must replace. However RUN the software calibration for diagnose, and fix it. see the block diagram.
you can measure the input voltage for the main motor if there are the motor is o.k and vice-versa
2) you can measure the output meassure from the pcb board is there are NOT the board is faulty for the input voltage motor.

My New Balance 1400 treadmill recently stopped working. There is power going to the motor. The lights are on but there is no power to the display. nothing lights up and none of eh controls work. The...

It sound like either the wire harness that goes to upper console is bad or the Motor Control Board that has the 5v or 12v is missing. Here is the bad news New Balance is out of the Treadmill business and do not carry these items anymore. Their might be one other thing you might try is that if this unit was not maintain as owner's manual suggests, then the fuse may have open up. You must open the motor shroud locate motor control board find the fuse, if you have a multi meter check continuity of the fuse if open replace it with the same value ( maybe 15amps). Plug unit in if the display returns then proceed to do the prescribe maintenance in owner's hopefully that the belt and deck was not damaged when it went dead.
Good Luck!!

Have a new balance 1400 treadmill. when i power it on the screen goes blue and it will not doing anything.

Does the screen turn on (blue) and then go black or does it stay blue? Mine has a similar problem where when the main power switch is flipped, it lights up, shows the initialization screen, then goes dark. Pressing any button on the console does nothing. I opened the console up and suspect one programmable microcontroller is bad. I'm going to see if I can get that part from FitnessQuest instead of replacing the whole board.

I can not get the treadmill to power on.

I have the same problem and have isolated it to the main console board. When you flip the main power switch, does the console display light up briefly and then go dark?

This generally means that lubrication is needed to be applied between the belt and belt. You may purchase these kits thru the products name is Lube and Walk follow the instructions that come with it to apply the lubrication.

Tech support for New Balance 1400 treadmill thinks that motor stopped due to fuse on circuit board. Where can I get the fuses?

In general, I haven't ever seen the MCB fuse ever blow. But the fuse should be visable if you remove the lower cover and look at the circuit board, most of these are of the old style automotive type and can be found at an auto store. more than likely a transister is blown and the board itself needs to be replaced, this usually happens due to the deck not being lubricated
