Question about Compex NetPassage 27G Wireless Router (NP27G)

1 Answer

Router was unable to Reset.

My Router "COMPEX NETPASSAGE 27G" was not working on reset. What the problem i found is when i try to configure router with the IP: 192.168.168.1 in browser, it say page cannot open. Several times i had tried to reset even it was not responding. When i try to ping the router it was giving reply and the Wi-Fi is fully functional and blinking 1 flash per sec. Then i try to update its firmware using "tftp -i 192.168.168.1 put " then i am getting a message Timed out Occurred. Please give me reply.

Problems: TFTP, DHCP, HTTP are not functioning in the router. Is there any master reset for it. Kindly send me a solution.

Waiting for your reply...

The firmware is an .img file

your routers default gateway is 192.168.168.1

    sorry

your default password for your router is password

To reset the router, depress the Reset button (at the back of the router) when the router is powered up and

hold the button for 8 to 10 seconds before releasing it.

I am unable to surf the Internet.

    A. Make sure that your Ethernet cable is properly connected from your Cable/ADSL modem to

the router’s WAN port, and verify from the About System page if a valid IP address (from

the ISP) is shown under the WAN port section.

    B. If not, ensure that your WAN settings correspond to the type of broadband Internet

connection you have subscribed to. You may contact your ISP to see if your Internet

connection type: is Dynamic IP, Static IP addressing, PPPoE (commonly used for ADSL

subscriptions) or PPTP. Please refer to Part 2 of Chapter 4 for WAN Setup. Remember to

reboot the router after changing your WAN settings.

    C. If you are able to surf the Internet when your Cable/ADSL modem is connected directly to

your PC, but after setting up the router and verifying the settings in steps A & B above, your

router is still unable to get an IP address from the ISP, then you may need to refer to Chapter

4 Part 2(d)i steps 5-7 to clone the MAC address of your Ethernet adapter onto the router.

    D. If all configurations from the above points A to C have been followed, power off the

computer, the router and the Cable/ADSL modem. Turn on the Cable/ADSL modem, then

wait for a period 1 minute before turning on the router. Lastly, turn on your computer.

Verify again if you received an IP address and attempt to surf the web.

    E. If you are a PPPoE user, you will need to remove the proxy settings or the dial-up pop-up

    window.

􀂃 For Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, start Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu

bar, select Internet Options and then click on the Connections tab.

o From the Connection tab, click on the LAN Settings button. Uncheck any options

from that dialog box. Press the OK button to return to the previous screen.

o Click the radio box option Never dial a connection to remove any dial-up popups.

Press the OK button to finish.

􀂃 For Netscape 4.7 or higher, start Netscape Navigator. From the Edit menu bar, select

    Preferences
, then Advanced, and finally Proxies.

o Make sure that the Direct connection to the Internet option is selected.

o Close all windows to finish.

The firmware is corrupted and I can’t access the router’s “Firmware Upgrade” page anymore.

    H. Verify the Diagnostic LED. If it keeps blinking rapidly, you will have to perform a manual

firmware recovery procedure. First, power OFF your router. Except for your PC, disconnect

all other networked devices from the router.

    I. You MUST give your PC a static IP address of 192.168.168.100 with a subnet mask of

    255.255.255.0.

􀂃 If you are using Windows 98SE or Windows Millennium, follow Part 1(c) on page 14 of the

manual to set the static IP address.

􀂃 If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP, follow Part 1(d) on page 15 of the manual

to set the static IP address

    J. Insert the Product CD into the CD-ROM drive of your PC, where the CD-ROM drive is X:\,

double-click “27grcv.bat” to begin the firmware recovery process.

    K. It takes about 1 minute to complete the whole process. Slower blinking of the Diagnostic

LED will indicate this. Power OFF and then power ON the router to continue with normal

    operation.

let me know if this helps you.

    thanks

I want np25g router reset password

Find the reset button on the router and depress it for about 30 seconds. This should clear the password. It'd usually recessed and not always easy to find, so you may need something (non-metallic), like a tooth pick. Look closely and you should see the word "reset".
Hope this helps!

How to reset router password???

Reset of only password is not possible how ever you can reset the box which will erase all the configuration and loads itself with default settings.

there is a tiny black button at the buttom of the device.
Press that button and dont release that , and power ON the device.
The Power LED will glow and then the sys LED will blink slowly and then rapidly. then release the black tiny button and wait for 2 minutes for the device to boot up.

Then you can login to the device with the default credentials.

Picked up a Compex NetPassage 27G at a yard sale and cant access it. Does it have a default username and password?

Hi

start by trying these:

Default IP for all Compex's Routers/ APs/ Client Adapters: 192.168.168.1 Default IP for all Compex's Modems: 192.168.1.1 Default IP for all Compex's Switches: 192.168.100.128 Default Password for all Compex's products: Password Default User ID for Compex's modem: Admin
alternatively most router will have a reset button that's usually behind a little hole in the back or at the bottom of the unit. inspect the device carefully and introduce something sharp (that won't break) through that hole while the unit is powered and press for 30 to 60 seconds, this is usually how devices are brought back to factory defaults. if this does not work it's like the device is defective and you may want to get your money back!

hope that helps!

Install CD of compex NetPassage 26G is lost, what can I do to install without CD? Many thanks in advance for your expertise :)

This router is at least 5 years old, and it does not support the more-secure WPA protocol. On that basis, I would "trash" it.

I checked the COMPEX web-site:

http://www.cpx.com/download.asp

and there is no mention of the '26G', although the '27G' is listed as a "legacy" product.

So, spare yourself a lot of wasted time -- go to the nearest "Boxing Day/Week" big-box store, and buy a new router, with new features, like 'Wireless N' and 'WPA2' support, and install it.
