I don't know any specific info related to the panasonic fax, but here is some "general" information that is usually universal. The fact that the paper feeds "with some help" indicates that everything is working... just not as well as it should. Very often, a problem like yours can be rectified by simply cleaning the original take-up/in rollers with some alchohol (I usually use 90%+ rubbing alchohol as it evaporates quickly and leaves little, if any, residue) on a rag. Also, there is usually some sort of "pressure pad/roller" (sometimes called a retard pad/roller") on these types of machines that work in conjunction with the primary original paper take-up roller. It can be either dirty or worn as well. This should also be cleaned. If it's a pad type system, often it just clicks/clips into place, and can be removed, the rubber pad itself flipped over in the retainer, re-installed, and the "un-worn" side then faces the paper offering better pressure for feed, and preventing multiple page feed. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: not feeding paper all the way
Never use Alcohol on rubber feed rollers. I am not sure what the fix is for your problem, but if you use alcohol on your feed rollers you will have another problem. Alcohol removes moisture from rubber, over time the rollers harden and will need to be replaced. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL ON RUBBER.

power off the unit, check for foreign objects inside the printer. power on the unit. try to photo copy. for the fax,fax settings must be configured. ecm and v.34 must be off. also check if the phone line from the wall jack if its connected to the line port.
