SOURCE: No sound from speakers

Well, Hold on here for just a minute! Does the system play other sources, like DVD or tape or anything? Before I trash the amp or receiver, I like to get a death certificate to that effect before I do so....accordianman

Power but no sound help plz....

well here we go how do you have your pioneer radio connected .
did you run the radio speaker wire out to the factory speaker or did you have an amp connected to the rca output jacks.

1 well if the radio connect by the speaker wire out the
output chip in the radio is fried and needs repair ....

2. if u have a amp connected to power your speakers for sound
check the amp to make sure you have power and no lose connection or speaker wires disconnected.
3. it also possible that the rca jacks are fried too

I no by experience that pioneer loses ground on the audio output jack (rca) well what we did to fix it is..
take and 18 gauge wire stripe back about 1/2" to 1" of the insulation to expose the copper wire and wrap this around the metal casing of the rca jacks and then ground the wire to a ground point do this for both left and right rca jacks...

Key up with no antenna connected

I am unsure what the question is but i believe you are asking if it will hurt your radio to keyup without antenna attached the short answer is yes.
When testing with a watt meter you should transmit into a resistive load aka dummyload or antenna.

A little transistor on left side that i think is ground, 3 pinned, don't know what happend, but started frying, radio still turn on and works but no more than 1 minute or the bad thing will finish burning....

That is your final output transistor. You probably have a very high swr due to a poorly tuned antenna or bad coax.

They normally do not fry. They just stop working. If its actually frying, you had better check your antenna system. If your antenna is not tuned for 27mhz, your coax has a short, or you have no antenna at all, the energy that normally radiates from the antenna does not, and it all goes back into the radio, and fries that final transistor, amongst other components at time.

This is an older radio they do not make any more. I have never been in one so I have no clue what final it has. You may be able to get the part number and possibly the part, if they still make it. If they don't make it, they may be able to tell you suitable replacement final for it.

I would go on ebay, and find a similar midland radio, made around the same time that is being sold for parts cheap. Get the final and other possible replacement parts as well.

Just need a pic to see what color wire goes to each of the 20 pins on the back of the deck

Wiring Diagram / Color Codes
1. Power Antenna (dark blue wire) - Connect to power antenna or amplifier.
2. Ground (black wire) - Connect to ground terminal or clean, unpainted part of chassis.
3. Memory/Battery (yellow wire) - Connect to battery or 12 volt power source that is always on. The radio will not work if this wire is not connected.
4. Accessory/Ignition (red wire) - Connect to existing radio wire or radio fuse.
5. Left front speaker - White/Black is negative, White is positive
6. Right front speaker - Gray/Black is negative, Gray is positive
7. Left rear speaker - Green/Black is negative, Green is positive
8. Right rear speaker - Violet/Black is negative, Violet is positive
9. RCA Outputs to Amplifier - Black is front, Gray is rear
10. Auxiliary Input Cable
11. Subwoofer Output
12. Antenna
13. CD Changer

The manual is available here:

The wiring diagram is under the section Wiring.

Cb problem have a cobra 19dx iv with a 2ft magnet mount cobra antenna swr is good, receive is good, but muffled output

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Which output is muffled, transmit (modulation audio) or receive audio?

If you are referring to the receive audio, initially, have you tried an external speaker? If it works good, then it would be an internal speaker problem; if not then others to check would be:
  • IC1 - KIA7217AP audio IC;
  • CM 10 & 15 - audio output capacitors 470uF / 16V.
if it were transmit / modulation audio, try replacing the mic.

Please postback updates.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
