How old is ths fuel in the tank? If it is older than 2 months dump it and put in fresh fuel. Use some starting fluid sprayed into the carb and see if it fires on that. It may take a few sprays to pull the old fuel through the lines till the fresh fuel gets to the carb.

SOURCE: chainsaw wont start. new plug has a little spark.

The engine case needs to be removed to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Check the module pole gap to the flywheel magnets with a thin business card for a gauge. If the gap is excessive, that can give a weak spark. If the gap appears to be correct, then it is probably time for a new ignition module. Make sure the spark plug is gapped at 0.020" before condemning the module. The spark should be blue and snappy. Check it in a dark area. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Makita DCS6401 wont idle.

Try turning the idle speed screw CW (not the jet screw marked L) one full turn to increase speed. Normally, this is set so that the chain stops moving, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

Why will my saw not start, good spark new plug fresh gas

Sounds to me like a plugged up fuel line or old fuel in the fuel line. You may be able to clear it by spraying some starting fluid into the carb to pull the old fuel through. You only want to do this 2 times because this has no oil in it. Another suggestion it to remove the spark plug and put some of your fresh fuel mix directly into the chamber. About an eyedropper full should work.

Wont start

You need spark, fuel, and compression, which one is missing? Spark is easiest.

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode.

If spark is good put a small amount of fuel mix into carburetor throat. Does it attempt to start if yes, check the fuel filter on the free end of a hose in fuel tank (manufacturer recommends an annual replacement). Check all fuel delivery lines especially at fittings and bends for cracks and holes. If those are good then the likely cause is internal parts of the carburetor are dirty or have failed.

Got spark, getting fuel but not flooded is beyond the our scope of help. I suggest a local chainsaw seller/mechanic for an estimate to repair. Your saw is made by Dolmar (Germany). I use a local Stihl dealer when my Husky problem is beyond something I want to repair. HTH

Wont start with new plug. I can smell gas, but none on plug

Check the start stop switch, sometimes they can get dirty causing the saw not to get spark. Also maybe check Your air cleaner. if it's clogged it may be flooding itself out?
