You can go to Acer for the pdf manuals, but it sounds like more of a incompatible component. can you please add more details to the question. Take good notes and step by step details of what you do and what is hooked up to the laptop when you press the power button. Also count the seconds of how long the laptop stays on as well as how far into the boot up process your laptop will load. You may have a replaceable part, like a hard drive. or be able to reinstall the OS as some of the viruses will cause many OS's to shut down at the boot screen! Awaiting your info.
I think u would not had installed the drivers software properly. Uninstall the drivers for ur phone in ur laptop . then without connecting the phone to the laptop install the drivers . now restart and connect the phone to ur laptop . go to add hardware option and add the phone. now it'll ask for the location of software. select the option as cd. it'll ask for the port no. and all other details.. give them correctly ... select ur phone from the list and install it. now ur phone is ready to work with ur lap top
Make a clean installation of XP with prior formating the Hard Disk Partition (where you are goint to install it)
For the driver issue, I am not sure if you have all drivers for your MOBO. (included in MoBo CD) and the driver for LAN Card, VGA or other devices drivers.
Let me know in bit more detail of other drivers which you have and have not? Try surfing the website to locate the exact drivers and most of driver you will get with optimum cost. Such as download.com or FileHippo.com
its one of two things. There is a driver conflict, which means the driver that was associated with the device was not the right one, so as a solution, update the driver in device manager but make sure you have the proper one... OR the sound device hardware itself is not being recognized by the system. Isolate it by removing all peripherals... and check device manager again. It should appear under sound, video controller.

Here is the explanation and solution for the error code 41:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
A driver was loaded but Windows cannot find the device. This error occurs when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.
If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.
If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.
On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.
