Let me tell you if you are using windows XP the sound drivers are not there if in any case it works it won't give its full peformance.
You have to install Windows Vista Operating System and for sure it will wok.

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers
