What is system password

Hi
I presume that you are referring to the computer system password that is required before you even get to the Windows start up screen.
In this case it is easier for you to download the manual by going here:
Product Support Dell US
and clicking on the "PDF" link beside the Service Manual. You might find it handy to save the manual to your computer for future reference.
There are two sets of jumpers on the motherboard relating to your problem, they are the Password jumper "PSWD" and the RTC reset jumper "RTCRST". They can both be located on the diagram of the motherboard on page 75. The RTCRST is near the battery, and the PSWD is near the Speaker and CPU fan connector.
The PSWD jumper should be set on pins 2 & 3 to disable password features. (See page 90)
The RTCRST jumper should be transferred from pins 2 & 3,and put on pins 1 & 2. After about 5-10 secs this should be replaced on pins 2 & 3. (see page 85)
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Locate the password (PSWD) and CMOS (RTC_RST) jumpers on the system board.

These jumpers are almost always located close to the CMOS battery or close the PSU power connector. If you open the unit up and remove the drives to see the board, it'll be either green or blue and it'll say PSWD right beside it. Remove it, power on wait for the Password Clear message....done.

Were do the jumpers go on a optiplex 330

There is the Password jumper (PSWD), and the CMOS jumper.

The CMOS battery is also termed the RTC battery.
Real Time Clock battery.
The CMOS jumper is labeled as RTCRST.

Real Time Clock ReSeT.

Jumper pin location is confusing if you go with Dell documentation.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/op330/en/ug/mtparts.htm#wp1607303

Dell Support documentation shows the RTCRST jumper pins near the Intel chipset, and PSWD jumper pins near the outside edge of the motherboard.

I'm also looking at the Dell Optiplex 330, Technical Guidebook, Inside the Optiplex 330,

http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optix_330_techspecs.pdf

Location of RTCRST jumper pins, is near the left corner of the Intel chipset, instead of the right as shown above, and PSWD jumper pins are in the same location.

And several views of Optiplex 330 motherboard's on Ebay,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Optiplex-330-Motherboard-Socket-775-KP561-/140870576837?pt=Motherboards&hash=item20cc8a6ac5

(Nice to have that Zoom in feature on Ebay now)

Jumper pins close to the white SATA 2 connector, are the RTCRST jumper pins.

Jumper pins at the bottom side of the Intel chipset are the PSWD jumper pins.

Jumper cap stays on PSWD jumper pins.
No jumper cap on the RTCRST jumper pins.

I want to remove security password of my PC

Lots of sites say to move the PSWD jumper (on the motherboard) from pins 1&2 to pins 3&4, or something like that. However on my Optiplex 360 I found that the PSWD jumper had only 2 pins. By trial and error I found that removing the jumper from these two pins while the system was off allowed me to boot the system with BIOS password disabled. I was then able to change BIOS settings

Someone gave me a dell optiplex 240 pc they did not have the password i have tried removing the password jumper and also the battery and still it asks me for a pass word help

Make sure you remove the jumper with the power OFF (not connected)

Disabling a Forgotten Password
NOTICE: This process erases both the system and setup passwords.
1 Open the computer cover.
2 Remove the jumper plug from the PSWD jumper to disable the
password feature.
See "Jumper Settings" to locate the password jumper (labeled
"PSWD") on the system board.
3 Close the computer cover.
4 Reconnect your computer and devices to an electrical outlet, and then
turn them on.
This erases the existing password(s).
5 Enter system setup and verify that the password is disabled.

Cannot access system -- forgot password. Cannot

Open the computer case. On the motherboard, (looking from the bottom of the motherboard), in the bottom right quadrant, to the right of the CMOS battery, you'll see two jumpers labeled CLR_CMOS and PSWD. You'll want to move the jumper for the PSWD block to pins 2-3 for 5 seconds and then replace the jumper on pins 1-2. This will clear the CMOS password.

Removing the PSWD jumper is the correct method of clearing the BIOS password. Removing the battery resets the CMOS.

Remove the power from your computer. Remove the battery. Remove the PSWD jumper. Wait!!!!

Keep power off the computer for at least 30 minutes, overnight is better.

Replace the battery. Plug the computer in. Do Not Reconnect the PSWD jumper.

Now reinstall your operating system and drivers. When finished, restart your system. If everything works and you want to redo the BIOS password, shut the computer down. Unplug the power. Remove the battery. WAIT.

Replace the PSWD jumper. Replace the battery. Plug in the power. Restart the computer, hitting "F2" as it starts....to open the BIOS setup page. Reset your password here. Esc to continue, Yes to save.

Good luck
