Question about Philips HD4644/00 White Energy Efficient Kettle, 3000 Watt, 1.7 Litre
Our Philips HD 4656/22 electric kettle seems to impart a chlorophenolic taste in the boiled water. Possible from the plastic filter. Please advise chemical polymer type of this filter

Not having received any solution message from FIXYA contributors, I consulted with a family member
and also my long held Time-Life Books, Fix It Yourself Library, Volume: Cleaning & Stain Removal,
ISBN: 0-8094-7400-X, Copyright 1990. My issue was resolved by using white vinegar and soaking the internal problem area for 30 minutes. The appliance has cleaned up like new and works fantastic. I apologize for bothering you.

Very simply, it sounds like the element has blown. If the element is built into the base of the kettle I am afraid it is terminal, if it is a calrod type element that you can see in the kettle, it can be replaced.
