Re: my computer speaker is not working
To determine if the speakers are faulty or the computer, plug the speakers into a stereo player. If the sounds come out of both speakers then they are OK and the fault is with the computer/s.
It could be software or hardware fault (ie. the audio card).

You need to add some information - what is the source for the video that you are viewing on the VA520? The VA520 has no speakers in it. If it is a desktop computer, look on the back of the computer for a green 3.5 mm stereo audio port. This is your speaker out connection. Plug in any set of computer speakers or headphones. (Computer speakers may require a USB connection or to be plugged into an AC outlet to power the speakers.) You can find cheap speakers for under $20; good speakers will be more expensive. With a laptop or some desktops, you'll find a headphone jack on the front of the computer. (This will be labeled with a small picture of a set of headphones.) The headphone jack is also a 3.5 mm stereo port.

Cindy Wells (laptops usually have internal speakers; most desktops do not have any internal speaker anymore. If you have headphones with RCA audio plugs, you can use a RCA F/F to 3.5 mm M audio adapter to use them with the computer. A stereo system may not work with a computer.)
OS these days are usually set up for additional hardware like speakers. But you should check the settings for the speakers from your computer first. To find out if the settings is the culprit, you can plug your speakers into another music player to test it. If the same issue arises, you may have to bring it back for exchange.
If the speakers are built in, check that the volume on the speakers via OSD is not turned all the way down or off. Many monitors that have speakers have an audio amplifier as the sound output from computers is very low and requires a powered speaker system in most cases. They are designed to operate head phones only now a days.
If you are talking about the code on the sticker on teh bottom or back of a computer that is the Windows Code. It will not work for MS office. The MS office that comes on computers when you buy them now days is a trial version and will only function for a total of 90 days unless you go to the MS Office Website and purchase a Key. In order to make it function for the 90 days you have to register on the MS Office Sight to get the Trial key. The key from another installation used on a different computer may not work either since they actually rotate several different keys through their products to cut back Piracy.
I just want to confirm that the solution on another page from francis 8 works perfectly ( http://www.fixya.com/support/t3709832-speakers_stopped_working_cannot ). We have two sets of Creatures in our offices, one had been shelved (by someone less persevering than me) due to this problem years ago and my set started this trouble a few days ago. Troubleshot everything, every cable, setting, combination, spare speakers etc - nothing worked. Opening the offending speaker and pulling back the metal weight behind the speaker cone was the solution for BOTH of our units.

Note - When you've opened the plastic shell and loosened the speaker from its mounting, the the big round metal piece/magnet sits within the actual speaker 'cage', slightly behind the speaker cone. It's tight but movable and can be pulled all the way back as far as it can go inside it's housing, away from the speaker cone.
Not sure why it gets pulled forward, but it isn't fixed in position and so could clearly get bumped by dropping the speaker or a reasonable impact of some sort. Once bumped forward it would severely limit cone movement and therefore volume.
Check the speaker cable connected properly in the back of the computer. If you have recenly unplugged the speakers , chances may be you have it plugged in wrong place. Green output is the one for the speakers in most computers. This is not the case , problem would have been in the speakers or the computer hardware. Try connecting another speakers and see if that would work. If it still doesn't work replace the sound card on the computer.
OK... I was just going crazy looking for the same solution. I had let the Verizon guy hook everything up for me (It's a desktop) after I changed offices. He hooked up the plug to match the color of an input on the computer, but he had plugged it into the WRONG one.. heheh... If you have access to the back of your computer - be sure it's plugged in correctly there. (Other plug ins I tried gave me very low sound) My computer - an HP pavillion has two orange inputs - not near each other - but the other one has a little pic of speaker. (LOL).... or (CQ - chuckle quietly)...
