No sound from internal speakers after using headphones

Hello I have a HP620 The other day I inserted my headphones into the jack, and ever since my speakers will not play any sound (but it will still work with the headphones) I have tried multiple things with no succes.... I have checked all volumes, disabled and re-enabled, updated drives, etc with no success. Any tips? Thank you in advance! *Update: I have tried everything on the follwing videos to try and fix the sound, but the result is still the same, sound will only play through my headphones and not through my internal speakers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0YXmhf2Cck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qXXYscV8Vs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy9_DMlP2Ww https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Vh6x4I8RAo The only thing I have been unable to try is "restore point" because I try and it only gives me the date of 4/17 (and the audio issues happened on 4/16)

The headphone jack has a switch in it to disable the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. This switch has stopped functionong. Look in the jack eith a magnafying glass to see if there may be lint or some other object holding the switch open when the headphones are not plugged in. Otherwise it's time to replace the jack.

SOURCE: i had some water that

Hi Jonas,

liquid has crossed/shorted some connections/contacts on the mainboard.

If it was just water, the problem should go away in a few days once the water evaporates. If not, you may need to replace the laptop.

Try this: Remove the laptop battery and shut it off. Using a can of compressed air or an air compressor (better) blast lots of air around the area where the water went in. Then put the laptop in a warm place for a couple of days and see if the water evaporates.

Please let me know if this helps.

Regards,

Joe

When plugging in a wireless headphone in the audio output the tv's speakers shut down. How can I stop this

The speaker cutout feature whenever the headphone jack is connected is a hard-wired feature of the headphone connector, and cannot normally be bypassed without further electronic circuitry and the associated surgery to install a custom modification in the TV. In order to keep the TV speakers on while using the sound elsewhere, you will have to take the audio output from the IR Audio port, if there is one.

Denon 1908 no sound

Try inserting a headphone plug into the headphone jack and remove it. Sometimes these units have a problem in the headphone jack where the unit thinks there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. This cuts all the audio output to the speaker jacks. If you never plan on using the headphone jack, you can also go inside of unit and unplug the cable that goes to the headphone jack board. Just make sure you unplug the unit before you do this, the plug is close to the main power switch.

The Sound has stopped working on my telly

if you have sound from the headphone jack the sound circuit is good--audio headphone jack when inserted cuts off internal speakers--it could be 3 days old and have a problem with the jack.

Headphone jack not working

Hi,

I find that there is a problem with your headphone speaker.
Try with some other headphone, even if it is not working, then you need to take it to the service center.

Cheers,

My system is stuck on (c2) headphone and I can not any sound, unless I put the headphones in.

Hi Steve,
This is an indication of faulty earphone jack, this is where the headset directly hooked up. See sample picture below.

jdvillanueva_20.jpg

When the you hooked up the headset to this jack, internal switch will released the contact to cut the audio goes to the main speaker out of the unit. Once you pulled out the headset plug, the audio will back to the main output speaker out through this switch.
In your cased, there's a malfunction in the internal switch of the earphone jack that's you haven't sound output at the main speaker out.
You may spray contact cleaner directly to the earphone jack while inserting and pulling out the headset plug to clean the lead. If the symptom still persist, you must replaced it with new one to back the unit in normal operation again.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya

Adding remote control activated ''mute'' to TV headphone jack

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.

If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.

Sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

Stereo Speaker troubleshooting

It sounds like the audio jack itself has internal damage. Depending on how it is mounted on your laptop case, or possibly on an internal circuit board inside the laptop; it might be possible to repair the jack or replace with a new 1/8" audio jack. Some soldering skill may be required after disassembling the laptop and getting access to the jack.

C785TU problem related to sound

When you plug the headphones in what happens is that inside of the jack the internal speakers  are disconnected and the sound goes to the headphones. If both are playing either the jack is not inserted far enough or  female plug is loose or defective.  Replace or repair the female plug.

Can't mute inbuilt speakers

That is not a software problem.
The headphones/external speakers jack socket has a switch to exclude from audio the internal speakers, when a jack plug is connected.
This is a very simple device and is not software controlled.
The fact that it has gone faulty at the same time you reinstalled the system is a coincidence.
If it does not mute when you insert headphones, all you can do is trying to play with the jack plug , inserting and pulling it out. If this does not unlock the switch, the alternative is having the jack socket replaced by a technician. This is generally an expensive repair, asthe socked is soldered on motherboard.
A cheap alternative to a proper repair is using an external USB to Audio Adapter and mute the internal audicard when using headphones.
