Okay, first save all documents you need etc. Then set the bootsequence in your bios as cd/dvd first and hd second.
Place dvd and startup; touch key when asked to startup from dvd.
When asked where to place windows first format c: drive. Then you start all anew.
The rest should be a snap.

Power caliberation error

  • Try using different brands of quality blank media, most common reason for such error's is cheap blank media.
  • Try burning at lower speeds (Highly effective).

Disable IMAPI Service (Work's in most cases):

    1. Launch Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services .
    2. Browse for "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service", Right-click on it and select properties.
    3. Chnage Startup Type to Disabled.
    4. disable_imapi.jpg
    5. Click Apply and Reboot.
  • Try updating or changing your CD\DVD burning software to the latest version.
  • Try upgrading your writer's firmware.
  • If all the above fails the problem is definitely related to hardware and not software, Go ahead and get your burner laser lens cleaned by a professional.
  • If all the above fails the drive's laser might have died and you need to get it replaced.
  • Best Of Luck, do post your results.

Laptop hp dv6000 will not recognize cd burner/dvd player

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop PC
Did you 'turn off' the AUTOPLAY feature of the CD\DVD ? When the player "runs two times at startup", it is trying to find the program on the disc.2nd- Look in internet for HP dv6000 cd\dvd drive replacement.(If that is the ""exact match for the product"" you wrote about)
3rd.goto CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look up cd\dvd and uninstall it. REBOOT, when your system comes back it will try to find the cd\dvd. If it does not, it is damaged (kaput!), must be replaced. If Windows finds the cd\dvd drive and reinstalls the drivers, but it does not work, then the heads are dirty or damaged. That Windows found the dvd\cd means that the circuit on the device works.

Hp cd writer cd12d

Hp cd writer does not require drivers on windows unless it is Windows 98/ME or earlier version.
a: drive error, it is an error with floppy, or floppy settings, not cd.
If floppy is present then floppy drive is probably faulty and in need of replacement.
You can bypass the problem accessing to bios setting. Usually you have to press a key on startup to start bios settings.
Once you access settings you have to change the error prompt setting. The computer will start the same but you won't be able to use the floppy.

Cd/dvd rom

I am presuming that you have the correct driver for the DVD, and nothing else has changed (no new DVD software that might cause this problem by addressing the drive improperly). Nero and Power DVD can both cause problems if your DVD is newer than the software version.

Now, all that out of the way, here is the diagnosis. DVDs are much higher density than regular CDRoms. DVDs average 4.5 gb, whereas a CD is caped at 0.7gb (700mb). Thus, DVD drives have very low tolerance for ANY kind of error. Therefore, DVD combo drives are not likely to last as long as the rest of the laptop's hardware. Shock at relatively minor levels can damage a DVD drive. Often, they will still open a regualr CD, but fail to read a DVD directory. Your error code, if it is posted at startup, indicates the drive is malfunctioning. You can test it easily. Usually there is only one screw that holds it in (underneath the laptop, about 4 inches from DVD tray cover, towards the center). Turn off laptop, flip it over on a towel, and remove that screw. Tuurn the laptop over again, then insert a straigtened paper clip into the small hole in the DVD tray face. Be careful to push lightly and STRAIGHT in with this paper clip and the tray will pop open. Pull gently, and the whole DVD body will slide out. With a new or used replacement DVD or CD, reattach any hardware on your old DVD to the new one, then slide it back into the laptop 9no need to install screw just yet) Start laptop. If error is gone and DVD plays OK, insert the screw again and make your old tray cover fit the new drive (always can be done if you look closely to find the tabs and remove it gently). Sometimes some plastic will need to be trimmed with an eExacto knife to get a good fit.
