SOURCE: I have an older New Home Sewing machine XR-V11

It does not matter what pattern you select, if you have the stitch width dial on 0 or set on straight stitch then that is all it will do, to do patterns you need a close stitch length about 2 or if it is not numbered get the stitches close to suit yourself and the stitch width on the widest number.

I had a singer machine that had a basting stitch that was like that. Make sure that you have chosen regular straight stitch.

Kenmore 100 stitch 385 It will not pull the bobin thread up into the stitch. It does all the fancy patterns but the bobbin thread does not ingage in the stitch. Please help

Make sure that you have the bobbin threaded correctly, and that you have a tail of 3-4 inches held in your left hand until the top thread catches, make sure you move your handwheel towards you and your needle is inserted with the flat side facing the rear of your machinine.

Using twin needle with Janome dc3050

you can just use the straight stitch. If you want to use a fancy stitch you have to be careful that the throw, as I call it is not too wide as you could break the needles and put the timing out. Also use a longer stitch than normal. Also use the stretch twin needle.

Brother ls2125 won't zigzag stitch

that sounds like a timing issue if it will pick up every now and then i would recommend taking it to a brother dealer for repair as timing is not easy to set

I need to know how to find the basting stitch on my ex660

The basting stitch is not normally a separate stitch, just set the stitch length as long as it will go, and the same for the stitch spacing. Make sure you are not using any fancy setting or zigzag and this should be fine for basting.

Can see alot of thread at the seam

Sounds like your needle threads are not tight enough.

Do some samples using different colored threads, if necessary, to see which needle thread is not doing the job. Then tighten in increments till you get the right tension settings.

It helps if you make notes of the correct settings on that material for the next time. Start a sample notebook, for the different materials you might use with tension settings for each, and if you do any fancy stuff with your serger, like pintucking, puffing, elastic application, ruffling and such.
