Question about RCA OPAL M4001 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Cannot Access Internal Storage

Okay, its been my M4002 can't be connected to by me Vista.
It worked a day ago, but today, I can't seem to connect to it, when I plug in my USB cable, it takes a few seconds, then my C:\OPAL appears, but when I try to access the Internal Storage, it loads, and never enters it, or at least, nothing appears.
Likewise with my Yahoo! Music Jukebox. When I plug in my M4002, when I try to transfer songs to it, it says "No Devices Connected".

This started after I put in a few pictures for the first time. I placed in, 30 MB of pictures or so, took out the M4002 plug, and now when I try it, I get the problem I have presented.

Does the problem lie within the pictures?

Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may not appear under Devices in iTunes after you connect it to your Windows PC. If you see your iPod in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8) but not in iTunes under Devices, try these steps. Start at the top and work your way through the steps until iTunes recognizes your iPod.

There is a "Firmware" update to Cyclone micro 3 .This can be downloaded from Sumvision web site :-
When downloaded copy the file on to a Memory stick or card and click the USB entry or memory card entry on the main menu, and the Cyclone will update itself .
There should now be an entry on the main menu for "internal storage"

Hi, How do I delete music from my Opal M4002 mp3 player?

if you want to delete music from your Opal M4002 mp3 player, all you need is use the usb of the player and connect to your computer. If the computer recognizes your usb then a folder will pop up and you choose open folder. Then you can right click on the music you want to delete from the player. That is all you have to do.

New PC with vista and cannot find driver info. mp3 will not connect

Frankly, Vista is not the best software. Microsoft could have done better. That is probably the reason. XP would have been the better choice.

Why wont it turn on?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

RCA Opal M4002

You need to actually get the newer software/drivers from the RCA website and THEN it is compatible - they are not explicit in the FAQ about this.

It's not working...

The Opal has a reset hole on the back of the unit in which a toothpick (non metallic) can be inserted to reboot the player.
If this does not work, I suggest that you reformat the player by using the WindowsTM format command on the unit. To reformat the memory
  1. Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
  2. Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.
  3. Reinstall the firmware from
