Hi there

In your Menu options there is a subfolder where it either reads lamp or lamp timer.

Scroll down to it and hold down you right or left arrow key on the Projector for a couple of seconds.

Did you clean the air filter? You should vacuum it or use an air dusting can to clean it out.

Afterwards, reset the time in the menu. In the manual, it says you have to go in the menu to the OPTION submenu. Go down to FILTER TIME and hold the right arrow down for 3 seconds. It will then go into a mini-submenu that, when you press the up arrow, will reset the filter time to 0. The key is to hold down the right arrow initially for THREE+ SECONDS to get into the reset filter time menu. This is NOT the submenu that has RESET - EXECUTE. That is a different thing that doesn't reset filter & lamp time.

SOURCE: My Hitachi CP-X201 has a flashing red lamp light

Hello :

Did you replace the lamp correctly ? If not , then i'll tell you how to do that :

Make sure that your power switch is off and that the power cord is unplugged from the electrical socket.
It is also wise to unplug any other cables and label them in order to restore them in the right way once the lamp is replaced.

2:In order to see the lamp, remove the access handle on the outside cover. You may need to use a screwdriver.

3:Pull out the used lamp and clean the relevant parts using micro fiber products and not paper.
Please note that in some projectors a small inside filter should also be replaced.

4:Insert the new lamp into the projector carefully avoiding touching the glass of the lamp itself.
Touching the lamp will deposit skin oil that will likely damage any new lamp during use.

5:Reassemble the access panel, repluge the cables and power up the projector.

Things You'll Need:
new projector lamp
screwdriver
micro fiber duster
Warning:
avoid touching the bare projector lamp.

I hope this will help .

rate please !

If that wasn't helpful , then contact again please !

There could be several causes for this. Does the cooling fan come on, it may be defective. There could be something blocking the heat sensor. Is it possible the connector didn't get fully attached when you installed the new lamp?

Is the only difference between at CP-X1200 and CP-X1250 the bulb, or is the ballast circuit different too? Just thinking how easily I could boost the brightness from 3500 to 4500 lumens.

Model: CP-X1200 ( Lamp)
Part#: DT00591
Lamp Type: UHB
Wattage: 275 Watts
Lamp Hours: 2000 Hours

Model: CP-X1250 ( Lamp)
Part#: DT00601
Lamp Type: UHB
Wattage: 310 Watts
Lamp Hours: 2000 Hours

I'm not sure but I would think the same ballast board is used, and the trimpots adjustments set in the factory.
If you fiddle with it, you may not be able to get the tube to strike on startup, or worse you can explode the lamp.
Also the extra heat generated may degrade the optics and LCD panels.not mention melting the housing.
Better to leave well alone.

It is just very dim. The bulb has 500 hours - is it just a bulb?

Hi,
This projector had a lamp rated at 2000 hours (normal) / 3000 hours (eco mode). It last shipped in August 2008. It is a 3000 lumen projector. It's a reasonable business class projector.
As a first step, it's certainly worth checking your warranty status. Your projector will certainly be approaching the end of its warranty now, however this model was shipped with a 3 year warranty so it may still be covered if the fault is not the lamp. Check now, and log the (possible) fault with your local Hitachi service dept. eg http://hitachiserviceeu.com/support/contacts/contacts.htm
Essentially it is hard to say. You might find that replacing the lamp makes the projector considerably brighter. A new lamp in an old projector does not return the image to a showroom state though due to degradation in the LCD panels, and dirt etc.

If the projector is not displaying any sign of other fault (ie. it will run happily for a decent length of time, and there are no warning LEDs) it might be worth considering replacing the lamp. A new lamp will cost cost around £250 or $250. If you are going to replace the lamp before sending it for "repair" make sure you fit a genuine Hitachi lamp as non genuine lamps can lead to warranty problems.

Hello, im looking at buying a second hand projector, how do i find out the life of the lamp? can i look in the menu? if its on it last legs, and only got a few mouths of use left in it, are there still...

you can view lamp hours in the menu. Keep in mind, however, that there is also a reset for the lamp hours, so there is no way to know if the reading is accurate or not.

lamps can be purchased at:

http://www.shopvsc.com/Infocus-Replacement-Projector-Lamps-s/120998.htm?searching=Y&sort=7&cat=120998&show=50&page=1&f-LP650=120843

As you can see, new lamp is probably way more costly than what you are paying for the projector. Why not just purchase a newer, better projector for same price as replacement lamp?

My Hitachi cp x250 projector powers on and displays and then the bulb turns off after a few minutes, and the lamp light and the power light come on red.

Most likely you have a defective lamp or it is near the end of its life. It's also possible that the high voltage power supply is going out. You might check the lamp hours - you can find this in the advanced menu. Also check the air filter, if you haven't cleaned it, the airflow might be restricted, shutting down the projector.

Sounds like you have a faulty ballast. I recomend changing it. This is your lamps own power supply.

Hello Wardens wife

What you want to do is go to the advanced menu, find the filter time and using the remote hold down reset button for 3 seconds or so while the filter time is selected. This will bring up a reset menu and reset the timer.
