Question about Pentair Pool & Spa
Spa heater. MasterTemp 200. 3 years old. No salt system in use. Worked fine until 2 weeks ago. When temp gets within 1 degree of set point (eg 98, 99, 100, etc) the heater begins to cycle on and off every 30 seconds. I replaced the thermistor and the thermal regulator with no change. Please help me to troubleshoot this problem. Thanks. Bill Kerry
Since you already replaced the thermisto next would be the control board

Anytime the heater is reading the water temp to be above what it actually is, especially 126, the problem is the Thermistor, or Temp Sensor, for the heater. This is a very easy part to replace. The Thermistor is located on the manifold, on the left side, between the top two bolts.
Sorry this is a late response! Hope that it helps!

Your EO4 message tells you you have a fan problem. So ether your fan is diying wich you would hear or you have a bad presure sensor in your exaust. A new fan is a little pricey but the sensor is reasonable for heater parts. I can't be sure but I believe it ether screws onto or into your exaust and it just plugs on to your control board. If your sensor is going bad their is a reason and this should be addressed. It should be in your by-pass or your gas pressure. But as far as a new heater, not untill you have water coming from the cabnit. It is sometimes easer to sell new than keep up with new, Good luck let me know how you do.

Long story but bingo just at the end. The thermistor is generaly the problem with what you describe. it is an inexpensive part and easy to replace. You will not generaly find this in your book. Your E5 code is just because the unit hasn't started yet. Good luck.
