SOURCE: AcerPower 1000 -- VERY slow loading

Your potential problem might be a virus. If you are having an updated anti-virus software and are running regular scans and found nothing, Then this might be the problem, while making the system get restored, the frequent problem is that, xp doesn't load the drivers which you installed for your system and it loads its own drives (which sometimes won't go with your devices). Try installing the drivers (especially display and motherboard drivers). If this doesn't work, I better suggest that you do a complete format of the system and install windows xp afresh.. Then there should be no problem. These're the possible solutions which i can infer from the details you've given..

Not loading when does it does its slow like slow 30min toload

Hi

Try this solution.

Restart your computer and press F8 to run on safe mode. After that restart again your computer. Running your computer on safe mode will fix and correct some errors because of faulty installed drivers, multiple drivers installed with same drivers or faulty software installed in your computer.

Also, run disk defragment on your computer by going to start menu, choose accessories, choose system tools, choose disk defragment and after this, restart again and it will run faster other than before.

If still slower, just run the system restore to restore the previous setting of your computer. Go to accessories, choose system tools, choose system restore and choose the date your want to restore.

I hope it helps you.

Slow connection to internet , what anti virus is best/easy to dow

Notebook may be slow as it may already be infected with a virus which also could be preventing the installation of an antivirus. Suggest you download Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool if possible on to your notebook. If possible, download directly to your hard drive and then run it from there. If too difficult or not possible, download using another computer onto a thumbdrive which you can then plug into your laptop to run it. The Tool is Windows version specific and is tailored to remove specific prevalent malicious software from Windows AFTER it has been infected. Microsoft releases a new version on 2nd Tuesday of every month and the latest was posted March 8th. Clicking on the following link will take you to Microsofts Knowledge Base Article #890830 for details and to do the subsequent download for the version of Windows that is on your notebook.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890830

After running the Malicious Software Removal Tool you may choose to install an AntiVirus. You can retry downloading and installing from the internet or alternatively just buy a packaged product from a local store which would be on a CD.

A final but effective alternative is to back up any personal data you have on the notebook onto removable media and then use Acer's eRecovery to restore the notebook to its factory installed image. The recovery files are contained in a hidden partition of the hard disk drive on the Acer notebook. Acer eRecovery is accessed by pressing the Alt and F10 keys together repeatedly as the notebook starts up. Once recovery is done, the wireless will require re-entry of the WEP or WPA key if you have the wireless security enabled on the router for your broadband connection. However, if your wireless is open, then a key is not required. Note that if indeed you have unsecured wireless, this may be a contributing factor for the slow to connect to internet that you were experiencing as others can freely connect through your open wireless and proceed to do heavy downloads at your expense.

Wireless on my laptop was worki ng properly just untill few days ago when I was downloading some language software via emule - I left my computer on 4 few hrs while beeing out - when I came home I couldn't...

first off your downloading unknows software from the worst place just because its says its this and that could be miss leading you to downlaod a virus the virus did its damage just because you removed it! it did not remove the damaged cause by the virus only the virus itself the guide books wnt help because they did not tell you to download from emule so it all on you to find a repairshop that ccould correct and fix the protocal stack witch may be damaged but many factor can be the problem the other way is to back up your data and do a system restore and restore to a day the computer worked fine that should solve the problem! good luck
