Wire feed moter problem ?


erratic wire feed speed can be from worn inner liner in the lead
the inner lining is like a close woven spring and with the welding wire moving through it , it will wear a groove in the liner that jams the wire as it moves through
Really evident if you change from a small gauge wire to a slightly larger wire
rust in the liner from wire that has not being used for a while will also cause the erratic feed
the fix is to clean the wire prior to going into the liner or replace the liner for both

Wire spool with not turn continuously while I am welding. It turns and stops, turns and stops. What can I do to fix the problem?


should be adjusters where the wire feeds out to the hose... adjust those. couple of youtube videos online should help you out

175handler quit spooling the wire . it still clicks when you pull the triger but moter does not turn


Do the drive wheels turn? Take wire out of drive rolls to see if they will turn! If they turn you could have possibly pinched the liner in your mig gun that your wire passes through. If so you will have to change it out. Good luck!

In your other post I had mentioned installing a Teflon liner that would help with the wire.It narrows the gap in the hose and gives it a more easier feed.

023 wire caught in line from machine to trigger on my 175 T lincoln welder


first stretch the gun lead straight ,unlock feed rollers try gently to real the wire spool backwards,if it wont move then cut the wire back towards the spool so you can take the gun off the unit lay it staight out use pliers and try hard to pull wire out.if that dont work you will have to replace liner.

Wire stuck in liner and can not get out


if the wire is stuck in the liner, screw the top pieces off the gun, like the contact tip and the diffuser so you can grab the wire with pliers, pull the wire out of the liner with the pliers, make sure the back of the wire is not still connected to the spool!

Wire broken off inside of liner in mig gun hose


about the only thing to do is take the gun of the unit ,place it straight in line on the floor or bench and try to hand feed the wire back the other way.good luck,this will be a lucky thing if it works.i dont understand how the wire broke off in the first place.

Spool wire starts to melt while on the spool


1] Switch off the mains power,remove the torch from the machine,ther should be a button or switch on the unit to feed the wire, push or switch these and observe that the wire feeds and dose not heat up, if ok then you have a short in the torch, a new torch assembly is required,if the wire heats up with the torch removed, the wire spool is shorting out, remove the spool and check wiring in and around the feed motor, if you can't see anything check for a voltage from a good earth and on the rollers, if you have a voltage then the motor is faulty.(earthing out) a P.A.T test should show exactly where this is.

Sometimes dirt builds up at the beginning of the liner, at the drive. Eventually the dirt jams in there so much that it gets very hard to push the wire through it. Carefully cut the wire between the spool and the drive and secure it to the spool through a hole, so it doesn't unspool into a bird nest, then disengage the drive roller, the wire should pull out of the tip freely. If you feel resistance when you pull it out, either there is dirt at the beginning of the liner, or the contact tip is causing resistance. Without the wire in the drive, turn on the machine and try it watching the drive. Does the drive work freely now? Does it change speed with the rheostat? If its a problem with dirt, this is what I do, after you get the wire threaded back through the drive, liner and contact tip, and everything is working, take a small clean cotton rag and simply tie it around the migwire between the spool and the drive, in a way that the drive can't **** it in. This will constantly clean any dust/dirt off the wire before it goes through your expensive drive and liner. Whenever you change the spool, change the rag. Hope this helps, and please post your results.

Mig proplem


Check the feed wheels at the wire spool make shure they are installed properly tight them if needed >>change tip >>
liner may need replaced.>
