In place of a fuse connect a bulb... bulb should burn. trace wire with a compass or a magnetic field app on smart phone till you found the problem, way easier than a new wiring harness as well as cheaper... :-)

To be aware you don't blow a 40A fuse with 40A. At 150A its going to take about 5 seconds to clear. You have a serious short and a real fire risk. Forget smart apps and stuff. The light bulb is the right answer. Get a decent size car bulb - 21W or 55W and connect it across where the fuse would go. Do not plug a fuse in as well. The light will come on. Now chase along the wiring, disconnect a few things and when you get to the point where the bulb goes out thats where your problem is. You could just get 40A amp fuses but get yourself a fire extinguisher as well.

On AutoZone's website are, at least for the cars I have worked with, extensive electrical schematic diagrams. You will need to create an online account ... but it doesn't cost anything.

It was a tremendous asset to me trying do debug a "basketcase" Yukon I bought with a burned up harness. It had the added complication of having been disassembled, the BCM discarded, and the used harness I bought having some corrosion.

How to reset a cutler hammer HMCP E Breaker

Well, you should first - stand off to the side (not in front of any electrical panel, or device) when re-energizing a circuit breaker/switch, etc... Use your off hand, not your dominant hand when doing this. Reason is, if the breaker/switch blows up or out - and it happens to burn your hand (hopefully not...) - you will still have your good hand to work and get around with. Also, look away when doing this too - which will protect your eyes and face. This is why you DON'T stand in front of these electrical devices when turning them ON. Now, stand off to the side of this breaker/switch - look away, and using your less dominant hand - first turn the breaker/switch OFF (listen and feel for it to click in the OFF position)...then, turn the breaker/switch back ON. This should re-energize the breaker! If it trips again, then leave it in the TRIP position - and ask for further help. You'll need an experienced electrician to troubleshoot the problem. On this particular breaker - the two 40amp breakers are together, and the two 30amp breakers on the outside are together. When turning these OFF, and back ON...turn the two 40amp breakers OFF together, then back ON - and do the same to the two outside 30amp breakers as well. What you have here is what they call a Quad Breaker (4poles/circuits - which take up two spots in your electrical panel). So, you have a 2 pole/circuit...240 volt/40amp breaker - inside of a; 2 pole/circuit...240 volt/30amp breaker. This is most likely running a dryer and a range. Either way, SAFETY FIRST! I hope your problem is just a tripped circuit breaker! Also, make sure whatever you are trying to re-energize again - is ALL OFF!!! If your breaker trips again, disconnect ALL appliances involved - and then try it one more time! If it trips again, then call a licensed/certified electrician! Best of Luck to You...:)

Why does my motor guide 50 trolling motor fuse

It depends on how much current the trolling motor is supposed to draw when set to 5. If it's more than 40 amps, then you need a larger breaker. If it isn't more than 40 amps, then your current 40 amp breaker is weak and needs to be replaced.

40 amp fuses continue tripping in a 1996 Chrysler Concorde

The owner's manual should delineate which circuits each fuse pertains to. Are they fuses that are blowing or circuit breakers that trip and can be reset?

1995 Mercury Grand Marquis blowing 40 amp fuse as soon as I turn on ignition

It will help if you can identify the 40 Amp fuse that is being toasted when the key is turned.

I looked briefly at a fusebox diagram and found 3 circuits protected by a 40 Amp fuse. The Lamp circuit protects several circuits which have smaller rated fuses on each separate wire. The 40 Amp protection seems to be a safeguard if all the smaller circuits are active in total. Turning off the automatic headlights, should reduce power drain.

The next circuit is the Rear window defroster. Can easily pull 40 Amps, but once the 40 Amp fuse breaks, it should have no effect on the engine.

The last circuit, on the cars with Trailer Tow or Police package has a
40 Amp fuse on the Battery charge Relay. This is a remote possibility. But the engine should be able to run without an Alternator for several minutes using Battery power.

Have them check the fuel pressure. The Inertia switch could have tripped while the car was being repaired. It does not explain the wiring short, but can explain the no start condition.

Again, if the same 40 Amp circuit is overloading, identify the circuit with the fuse box diagram.

I have just bought a euroline 40 glass washer but it keeps tripping all my fuses when I turn it on I have tried different circuits but still trips

Possible there is short within the power board and so it uses more current than designed. You can remove the panel and check for short within the panel board. Check for visible damage to the board. It can be shorted surge capacitors, protectors or rectifiers. If not there can be damage within Also disconnect the motor drive , isolating the circuit and if the power does not trip you can check this circuit.

Can i make a 40 amp circuit breaker with two 20 amp breakers?

Yes. A two-pole breaker is just two breakers hooked together. But the very important part is that if one pole trips THEY MUST BOTH TRIP. If only one trips, then the circuit won't operate the appliance (whatever it is) but one of the poles will still be live!

?-Is it ok to swap wires within fuse box if they amps on the breakers are the same? See details below... Ok, so I have a Sylvania fuse box. Both my A/C unit and my Range run off of thin, dual 40amp...

Yes it is OK, Your gfi's are real sensitive, anything can trip them off, a florescent light will trip them off. Anything not grounded in the circuit will cause it to trip. Take care of that later or don't use it. The 40 amps, I would just forget about the stove for now, get the ac going, cook in the microwave. But swapping the breaker is no big deal. Hope this helps.

Sony Bravia LCD TV is tripping the fuse in the house

These things draw a huge surge current when turned on. What size fuse are you blowing? These things can surge 10-12 amps on turn-on. What about a fuse with a reset button. They will take alittle more surge before they go. Don't matter about the insignia working before because the cheaper sets tend to stay powered up more when off....thus not surging on from a dead start. Could you try a different plug on a different circuit/fuse? and see if that makes a difference. If you have a 15 amp fuse, then your pretty close with other stuff plugged in. What size is your service? Do you still have an original 60 amp box with screw in fuses? Is it an old house?
