Hello. The best thing to do is, go to a well known junkyard that have good clean items.

the wheel cyliners need to be replaced ,that is most likely where it is leaking , recommend bleeding the brake system both front and rear after changing the rear wheel cylinders

My right front brake will not release. It has actually burnt my brake pads which i need to replace. What can I do to get the brake to release?

I would replace the rubber brake hoses going
to the calipers,as they may have collapsed inside

Replace the calipers as they may have rusted inside,
and the pistons do not release

Do both side of car the same

Bleed all 4 wheels

How do i take off the brake drums on a 2003 chevy cavalier

After you remove the tire, the drim should slide off. If it doesn't then try using a rubber mallet and gently tap on the outside edge as you pull on it. Sometimes you also need to tap on the drum in the center part. I have sprayed penetrating lubes like WD-40 or PB Blaster into the seam at the center. You may also have to back off the parking brake cable or even use the adjuster to back off the shoes.

Rear wheel bearing

If you have ABS then the wheel bears are not replaceable, and the entire hub needs to be replaced as a unit. The OEM part # is 4340250G11

If you do not have ABS then they are replaceable. The inner bearing is part # 0926225061, and the outer bearing is part # 0926220069.

The rear wheel bearings are pressed in the brake drum with a spacer in between.

Remove the rear brake drum and place it on a work surface.

Tap out the opposite side with a screwdriver/punch and a hammer. (i.e. tap out the inner bearing when the outside of the brake drum is facing you, and tap out the outer bearing when the inside/brae shoe side of the drum is facing you)

Tap in the new bearings making sure that the sealed sides are facing out.

There is an irritating whining/metal on metal sound coming from the front driver's side wheel. Is it my brakes and if so how hard are they to replace?

hi, to me it sounds like you need to replace the brake pads and the brake disk so here is how you do this job:
1 undo wheel nuts and jack the side up your changing first, put axle stands under to keep car raises whilst you take wheel off, dont leave on jack as this wont support the car properly for a long time, then remove wheel

2remove two bolts holding brake caliper to rotor(this is the part that houses the brake pads you have one bolt at the top and one bolt at the bottom at the back of the caliper.

3, just before you take the 2 bolts out get a long flat bladed screw driver and put this inbetween the back brake pad and the brake disk then lever the screwdriver so you are forcing the rear brake pad back into the caliper, doing this will push the brake piston back which then enables you to fit the new ones after you have removed the old ones. So its the brake pad at the back of the disk you need to get the long screwdriver between this pad and the disk and pull the driver towards you so you are pushing the pad backwards into the caliper, this will push the piston back keep going till it stops.

4. Remove caliper with brake hose attached (tie the caliper up or rest somewhere so its not putting strain on the brake rubber pipe).

5 Slide brake pads off (you may have to gently tap on pads to remove them) and then put new ones on.

if you couldnt force the piston back earlier then your going to need a big g clamp to force it back now to allow you to get the new pads in if you done it earlier skip this part

6, now to remove the disk if you look towards the center of the brake disk you will see one or two cross head screws you need to undo this then the old disk will fall off with a gentle pull.
7 when you fit the new disk you need to clean it off with brake cleaner or wd40 as it has an oil coating to prevent it rusting whilst its on sale in the shops so when you buy the pads and disks make sure you ask them whats best to use to clean the surface of the disk not doing this will mean you wont stop when you press the brakes.

8 refit new disk replace the locating screw.

9 fit the new pads it is a good idea to put a bit of copper grease on the back of the pads to prevent any noise not the side that touches the disk but the back of the pads the metal part that touches the piston
Compress piston in caliper to make room for new pads with a clamp. Install caliper, install tire.

now repeat this on the other side.

you need to replace both sides at the same time so dont just replace the one side due to the fact if that side is low then the chances are the other side is just as low

check brake fluid level after doing this, it would also be worth putting a bit of rag around the brake fluid filler as when you push the pistons back your going to force brake fluid back into the fluid resevoir,

then before you drive anywhere get in the car and push the brake pedal a few times to ensure the pads are pushed against the disk, then you should have no problems using your car.

Divers brake light does not work with head lights on .

big problem with jeeps 98 and up should be a safety recall but is not; you need to replace the drivers side tail light assembly with a new one, from jeep or auto parts store if available. used auto parts recycler may have one but your taking a chance, used should be 40 to50
dollars new over 100

How do I change the brake pads on my sienna 2002.....and do I also have to change the rotor

If you have change brakes before - it's the same.

Buy OEM pads.
Take off wheel.
Remove two bolts.

Lift/Take off the brake assembly, be careful to not hang by hose.
Check Rotor for uneven wear - should be smooth.
Depending on driving habits, the rotor may need resurfacing/ replacing - your call.

Note the various clips by lining up the new parts exactly the same as the old one.

Remove clips/pads/shims.

The trick to sliding the brake assy back on later as the new pads are thicker, is to move back the part that pushes the pads together. This is a round part and probably made an indent in the old brake pad or shim.

Using a piece of wood adn a C-Clamp, slowly move back the rod. You can use a piece of wood adn brute force if you don't have and C-Clamp.
Be careful not to mar/nick/damage the parts

Replace pad and clips.
Use grease the OEM parts usually provide.

Slide back on brake assembly, replace bolts, note torque.
Replace wheel.
Turn on and pump brakes.
Drive slow and check work.

The other side should be faster now that you did one side.

Have a 97 sunfire put new caliper went bleed them no problem on passanger side but no fluid come out when bleeding brakes drivers side front

Do you have someone there that can Pump the Brake Pedal while you Bleed that Side? That is what you need to do.

Front brake pads for 1997 ford ecscort encore

The binding of the brakes is causing the pads to overheat, which is causing the smoke. You need pull the wheel and check things out. Your caliper must be bad (not releasing). You need to replace the caliper, brake pads, and have the rotor cut (a full service parts store or shop cuts the rotor perfectly smooth on both sides), or replaced (it may be cheaper to just buy a new rotor). You should also always change the pads (and check everything else) on the opposite side. So, if u do the brakes on the driver side front, always do the front pass. side at the same time, likewise if u do rear brakes.
Whenever you do brakes u should also flush out the brake lines (by bleeding the brakes) until the brake fluid flows absolutely clear. Old brake fluid is the #1 reason for caliper failure. I've seen many times people replace brake components w/out changing the brake fluid, only to have the brakes wear out very quickly, or not function properly. good luck! hope this helps> please rate this!couontrycurt0
