Wrong cartridge means you need a new printhead. qy6-0049-000. Around $59.00. Cartridge in this case refers to printhead, not ink cartridges.

Epson printer will not print any copies. I get the message "change cartridges 98/99." I did change both cartidges and can't clear the message and print copies.


i assume that everytime you try to print you get the same message. i sometimes get cartridge unrecognised on my epsom. I have to remove the cartridge, wipe the chip on the cartridge and reinsert.

If this doesnt work please specify printer model and if using original epsom cartridges.

In my printer hp 1600c always cartidge light is flashing but all the cartidge is inserted properly.

in that case you will have to reset the printer;

Follow the procedures below to successfully reset your printer:

1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
2. Remove the cartridges from the printer.
3. Wait for the "Insert Cartridge" message to display on the control panel.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
5. Wait 60 seconds.
6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Printer won't print, message says ''wrong cartridge'' I have the correct cartridges installed and it still will not print.


Would I be correct in thinking that you have just changed the cartidge?

If so, then remove the cartridge and check that you have removed all the transit seals that are fitted to prevent leakage in transit.

Won't accept color cartridge


Is this a manufacturer cartridge or a knockoff? Knockoff cartridges can for sure cause that message. If it is a new one, it is possible it may be the wrong one. Check your manual. If this is also not the problem, then your printer has an internal problem and needs repair. Hope this helps. Cheers.

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

2 possible problems.
1 cartridge faulty or just needs a wipe
2 carriage ribbon damaged
Take the cartridge out and gently rub the gold contacts on the side with a piece of tisue. This might clear it. Take a look at the cartridge carriage in the printer and make sure the ribbon where all the gold contacts meet up with the contacts on the cartridge is not damaged in any way. sometimes the little metal spring which holds the cartridge pierces the ribbon at the back of the carriage and then the printer is unserviceable.
if rubbing the cartridge does not work and the ribbon is not damaged then assume you have a faulty cartridge - rare but it does happen
