I dont think so, if only you are using WD my Book for backup purposes, but if your My Book are being use for system of windows then it might be true... why, because from this relay USB connection to your My Book is only 2.0, while internal hard disk are most capable to operate system than your WD My Book... its for backup only...
If your computer is slow try to scan of use a program tuneu utilities to optimize the system and remove unnecessary registry or program..

Magicjack problems

If you're online or using a large memory hog program it can make it skip. Also, you may not have enough Ram or processor speed for it to run properly. Using WI-Fi can also slow your internet speed and cause it to lag. I have mine on a directly connected Desktop running Vista with 2.3 Ghz dual processor and 3 GB Ram don't have too many problems unless I'm doing something online that uses a lot of bandwidth or a memory hogging program.also ur Internet speed affects it 3G aircards are OK just not the greatest DSL is a bit slow for it too., I have Charter 15Mbps internet.

Hi, I have a Panasonic tough book with a fresh install of XP Home. The problem is I have no sound. I have tried to reinstall the reltek ac97 drivers, but it crashes with a blue screen upon install.

bluescreen can be caused by a number of things

you might not have enough RAM random access memory not having enough will cause your computer to run over its maximum limits and can cause the blue screen of death and hang and cause memory dumps

make sure your ram modules have a dust free secure seating and the CPU central processing unit has thermal paste
if you dont want to install more ram uninstall some unnecessary programs

a bad or faulty motherboard lead or its connection if its a flat 40 pin ide it will be the first to fail
make sure all leads have a dust free secure connections

a bad driver loose or faulty lead or not having enough ram

if you can get a screen

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll through all of your devices

if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark ? ! or a red X you will need to update the drivers for this device right click select update driver/reinstall driver

if you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it

or you might have to download one

or it might be a virus right click in bottom toolbar select task manager applications to see what is running and processes to see what is ticking over

hope it helps

I tried to format my 500gb WD passport essential with exfat using windows 7 for my mediastar pvr . Now neither pvr or windows 7 can see the harddrive

Windows 7 does _NOT_ support 'exfat' drives, as you have found out.
You can "format" the drive, to use 'FAT32' or 'NTFS' file-systems.

Why my facebook chat isn't working?

have you tried refreshing the page? Try Google's "Chrome" I find that browser works the best on Face Book. "Fire Fox" is Slow and a "memory hog" "Internet Explorer" is vulnerable to Trojans, Mal-ware, and Spyware that will cause problems with chat and mess up your computer..

I have XP and my WD hard drive will not recognize?

Try a different "data" cable between the computer and the WD unit.

Try connecting the unit to a different computer.
If it still does not work, then either:
* the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, inside the casing, has failed,
* the disk-drive, inside the casing, has failed.

Disassemble the unit, and remove the disk-drive.
Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" disk-drive to a computer, to see if the disk-drive is OK, i.e., the USB-interface is the problem.

Copy the serial-number of the disk-drive, and use it to "check warranty status" on WD's web-site. If the drive is still under warranty, WD will replace it.
If not under warranty, WD has a "Customer Loyalty Program", i.e., buy another MyBook through their web-site, and get about a 20% discount, as a current WD customer.

Main memory

You could do that. But I would check to see if you couldn't pick up two 1 GB RAM sticks instead. Memory has gotten cheaper & Windows XP is a memory hog that likes at least 1 GB of RAM.
