SOURCE: Tray Sticking on CD Player
reoccurring tray problems are a paim. It mauy be a spot of oil or grease on the tray motorbelt, or the wrong belt fitted, and or dry failing bubricant to opening cam and sliders. Best approach is to strip and clean everything, lube only with white plastic grease, and sparingly. I use graphic powder on tray sliders, be careful not to get lubricants on drive belts. try next size down belt also, or be sure the belt fitted is 2.0 mm crosssectional area

SOURCE: Not Recognising a CD
I got a second hand 541 a few weeks ago. After many hours of listening pleasure an no problems at all, the machine stopped spinning CD's, both copied ones and original ones.
The sollution for my problem was simple after some figuring out.
Open the CD tray.
Power off the unit with the tray open.
Open it up.
In the CD frame in the back there are 2 srews that hold the CD engine unit in place. I untidied these screws just a little bit.
I also untidied the screws that hold the cd clamp cover on the top a little.
After this it loads all my CD's fine again.

You power off then power back on while holding down the fast forward and rewind buttons on the recording side simultaneously. The display moves through a sequence of numbers and the trays will then open.
