Question about Hoover U6485900 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Hoover u6485-900 Brush Bar won't turn.

I have a Hoover u6485-900 and the brush bar will not turn. I have replaced both belts and bag and it still will not work. There is still suction, but it is picking up very little without the brush bar working.

Hello. Make sure that the brush bar is clean and that there is no hair or strings tied up.

The brush bar is completely clear, that was more first line of defense. The brush will turn if the vacuum is tipped back, but as soon as it is on the floor, it stops. Like the belt isn't getting enough traction to make the bar turn with there is the resistance of the floor.

SOURCE: brush not turning

ez...there may be a second belt or the bearings in the beater are gummed up. Open up the area where the beater is. There should be a belt in there...if it is broken, you'll have to replace. Before you do...turn the beater by hand...if it turns hard, the bearings are jammed up with old grease or debris. You'll have to deal with that.

real simple you have to articulate the belt a little sideways and the belt should slide right between the pulley and the plastic.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hoover 5470-900 no longer contacts carpet with beater brush

your floor adjustment spring is broken there is a plastic slider and clip if it is broken the height adj will not work you should get a new vacuum because this repair can cost as much as a new vac.also this is a common problem with the hoover brand I would get a sebo or an oreck they have a great warrentty and you will more than likly never buy a other vac.

SOURCE: The bar brush does not spin. I opened the vacuum

you have to have it in the carpet setting in order to put pressure on the v-belt. there is no way to tighten up the v-belt, but i would try to replace the big flat belt. if you haven't changed this belt in over 6 months, i would change it. ( on average belts need to be changed every 6-8 months). the reason is that the belt streches over time and doesn't have enough tention to ingage the v-belt in order for the brush to work. hope this helps

Hoover F5915-900 brushes will not rotate

The motor rotates the bar. My guess would be that the rubber belt that goes from the motor to the belt has fallen off the bar , broke, or the bar is not seated properly. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

How do i know if the belt needs to be replaced in my hoover spin scrub

Remove the brush cover. Check belt for cuts or stressed areas.
Is the belt taut or stretched to the point of being loose. If you see
any of this replace with the correct size. Pull brush bar out of the
side slots and remove belt from motor pulley. Place new belt on
pulley and onto grooved area on the bar....stretch forward and
push back down into side slots. Remember....groove in brush bar
must line up with pulley. This is also a good time to remove hair
and other stuff from the brushes and bar.

Dennis

How do you replace the beater bar belt on the hoover u 6626-900

It is not a "Beater Bar". Hoovers have brush rollers and are easy to replace. Turn the machine over and remove the 4 screws which hold the cover on, over the brush. Remove the brush roller. Slide the new roller through the small belt (self propelled models) and secure into slots (note: slots are different, match roller sides to correct slot.

The bar brush does not spin. I opened the vacuum head and the drive belt to the bar brush is loose. I don't see how you remove the slack from the belt.

Hi Bobbie Take apart the electro floor head if you can and inspect inside - it may well be that there's clogged dust preventing the brush from turning and also check both sides of the actual beater bar as thread and tangled hair can often lead to a brush turning every so often.

Brush Roll belt won't engage on WindTunnel self-propelled

When you had the brush roll off, did the ends turn freely? If not then the brush won't turn and the belt will just slip. You would have to replace the brush roll if either of the ends are frozen. Other then that you would have to remove the top cover to see if there any broken parts, there is a spring loaded asm, it has a black wheel that will push the V belt when it is in the carpet setting and the handle is in the down position, it could be jammed so the roller is stuck.

Hoover wind tunnel vac

If the belt is getting hot, then it is slipping instead of turning the brush roll. Check thge brush roll, make sure the ends are turning freely. Is the motor running ok? If it is then either the brush roll is bad, need a new belt, or something is catching the belt, not letting it move.
