I guess there's a reason for wanting to do this so I hope you have a windows installation disc to install from when you erase the hard drive.
to erase the content of the hard drive (format), download hirens boot disc and burn onto a cd.
boot into mini windows from the hirens disc and format the hard drive. this will completely remove the system.

that can help you speed up your Windows XP computer.

1. Clear the Prefetch Folder :The Prefetch Folder contains files that keep getting stored on your computer whenever you launch any program or application. Deleting these files clears up space on your system that might have caused the slow down. Here is how you need to go about it.

Press the Delete key on the keyboard and confirm the deletion. Once done close the prefetch folder window. Now right click on the recycle bin icon on the desktop and right click and select empty recycle
bin and then confirm the deletion.

2. Disable Startup Items: Certain programs get initiated in the background as soon as your system starts causing the system to slow down. These programs are actually not required on startup but because they get initiated it affects the system performance. Here below i am listing the steps to take care of this issue. Please note this step is very effective and
enhances your system startup speed significantly.
Click Start...click Run...type msconfig and click Ok.
The System Configuration utility window will open.
Click on the Startup tab on the top right. Click on the disable all button. Once done, in the list above, you will see many options with checkboxes. Please check any option that indicates your antivirus program software and internet service provider.
Click Apply and Ok. Please restart the system once.Once the system reboots you will get a message coming up saying "You have used the system configuration utility...." Please check the option below that says" Do not show this message again" and click OK.

3.Clear the Temporary Files Folder: Certain temporary files get created as a cache of our activity on the system. Clearing these files from time to time also improves the system speed. Below are the steps for the same.

Open Internet Explorer. Click on the Tools menu on top right. Click Internet Options. Click on delete button to delete cookies, files and browsing history. Click Apply and Click Ok.

5.Scan our system for infection: Your system might run slow in case its infected with virus, spyware, malware, adware, trojans etc. Here below i am listing a tool that you can download and run on the system Its free of cost and is very effective. It scans your system and cleans up any infection. Click on the below link to download the tool. The link that opens up also has a tutorial on running the tool in case you face any difficulty.

I need password for bios to dell dimension 3100 desktop?

marwan_vaqub,
Dell does not supply bios passwords for Desktop systems. You would have to change the motherboard jumpers to clear the bios password. For help to clear the password please contact Dell Support for system ownership verification and they will then help you resolve clearing bios password.

Thank You,

Trying to install entir dell 4600 system I had a virus and I don't know how to reinstall it

DELL USUALLY HAS A RECOVERY PARTITION. TO GET TO IT YOU MUST PRESS THE " F11 " KEY MANY TIMES WHILE IT BOOTING UP. THIS SHOULD GET YOU TO THE SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTION. JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. DELL ALSO HAS SUPPLIED RECOVERY CDs INSTEAD OF THE RECOVERY PARTITION. IF YOU DIDN'T GET THE CDS THEN YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE PARTITION.

Have Lexmark 1300 for 1 year working good on Vista Home, HP desktop. A couple of days back, the printer would print my doc but I could not print anything else after. Checking the printer queue, it shows...

This may sound radical, but remove the printer entirely from your system. The next time it comes up it will load all printer files again. Next try to print a test page and quickly see if it got out of the que, with the test page. Hope it works for you,

My computer caught a virus

Yes this is an unfortunate virus that has attacked your system at this time. you can clear all partitions and reinstall the entire operating system. this will bring back the OS but, you will lose all info that was stored in the partitioned drives. You can do this by inserting the xp or vista disk then, restart the system and before the dell bios flash gos away, hit f4 then, choose boot disk. this will start the reinstallation of the OS again.
