This is your CMOS battery and when it runs down your BOIS settings will default back to factory settings and the date will be back to the date the pc was assembled. The battery is located under the keyboard on most Dell laptops and there is a strip of plastic that can be lifted at the back of the keyboard to allow access to the keyboard screws. This is a small round battery with a black and red wire lead with a small white plasitc plug. There are many dealers on Ebay that sell this battery and I buy mine from USAexpress as I fix and repair laptops for friends and family. Good luck, easy fix. Dennis

Cannot charge the 12 volt battery more than 10 volts. Is there a service manual available

You need to replace the battery. There is a bad cell in it. When a cell becomes bad you lose about 2 volts.

How to know a Good battery

Equipments Needed
Foreign & Local Booster

Procedures to follow
Step 1: All good batteries are suppose to read 3.7 volts as inscribed on the battery body.
Step 2: When a battery is low with 0.0 volts and it's boosted with a booster, it will increase back to 3.7 volts.
Step 3: If you boost a low volt battery and it increases to maximum but immediately reduce to lowest after removing the booster, it means the battery is bad.
Step 4: If the battery has 1.0 volts or more and it cannot still power up a handset, it also means the battery is bad.
Step 5: You can also use a desktop to charge a battery that is low volted, but if it does not charge, use a boosted as a second option, if it still does not come up, then the battery is totally bad.

You can over charge and discharge a battery by dropping it in a cold water or interchange the polarity of the booster.
An over charged battery might not power a phone.

Is the 1970 cb 100 honda a 6 volt or 12 volt system

It is possible for cells to go bad in a battery. Anything that remotely resembles mold in a motorcycle battery is not mold, but it is bad news.

It should be a 12 volt system.- 6 fill caps on conventional batteries.

How do I determine if a battery is bad or its the alternator?

check voltage at battery with engine running. If voltage is less than 14 volts, alternator is bad.

Battery dont get charge ,but alternator it is ok

Always check the fluid level in each of the battery cells and top up with distilled water as required.

Using a multimeter you can assess th health of your car battery and alternator:
  • With the engine off, measure the volatge at thebattery terminal: it should show 12.5+ volts, anything under or around 10.5 volts indicates a shorted damaged battery cell -> bad battery!
  • With the engine running, the voltage reading at the battery terminal should indicate around 13.8 volts and anything under 13.5 volts and over 14.5 volts indicates a bad alternator and/or alternator regulator.
Hope it helps!

1998 ford exped v8 battery is good, but turn ignition key, battery goes dead. have a clickng sound in fuse box, battery will jump off and stay running but when i turn it off will not start back up

battery is low on voltage, it is either bad or the alternator is bad. after you jump start check volts at the battery . if volts are below 13.00 the alt is most likely bad. if volts are about 14.00 alt is good. battery is bad.

Will a bad battery keep a laptop from turning on. the laptop will not turn on unless you take out the battery and use the a/c power supply only

if the battery is bad, yes. Also, if the batter charging circuit is bad, yes. The thing to do is get that battery tested in a shop, or, have another battery like it to try. Batteries are expensive and only have a 1 yr warranty. But, most people do not use the batteries because they are on an AC plug.

My 2000 ford ranger and something draining battery

bad alternator possible or bad battery..even though its new that battery can be bad. I would take a volt meter and with the engine running check the volts of the battery..If the volts are 12 you need to replace alternator, if volts are 14 you need to check the battery. to check the battery hold the volt meter to the battery and have someone start the car..while the starter is cranking battery volts should not drop below 10volts.if they do your battery is bad.
