Question about Riso RP 3700

Open Question

I have a vertical dotted line on my RP3700 copies

My master comes off the roll with a vertical dotted line on it. I have switched out the thermal strip, but that didn't help. I have also cleaned the glass and printed new pages to create a master from. None of these has helped. What can I try?

the thing might be down to an old master stuck to the drum this could cause the faint copies and the missing print.. pull the drum out check under the master.this would also cause the paper to jam on exit. the error is for no master eject check the calmp is free where it grips the master and also the path for the master eject to the waste bin

Is this machine interfaced with the computer? if it is.. then it's nothing to do with the machine... Either it's the machine settings.. So you have selected letter size on the machine and ledger on the computer.. Something like this. The machine is probably fine..

If rubbing the screen doesn't help, you might have clogged ink passages in the manifold that distributes ink inside the drum. I've seen it happen on RPs that have used off-brand ink or sat for a long time. Inside the drum, the printer is supposed to dispense ink through 4 orifices that are spread across the width of the drum. Sometimes the outer passages get clogged.

Solving it is not simple: you have to basically completely dismantle the drum, remove the clamp plate, the screen, the drum body, the squeegee/doctor roller mechanism and finally the ink manifold and completely flush it out.

I had one like this recently and I had to blow the ink distributor manifold out with compressed air and use paint thinner to get all the clogged ink out of it, and then reassemble and run the inking test mode. If cleaning the screen and print drum cover doesn't help, that's the last option and sometimes it's the only one that works. Some off-brand Riso compatible inks don't flow well and the distribution manifold has small orifices, only about 2.5 millimeters in diameter, so they can clog.

The ink sensor is toward the middle of the drum so it won't necessarily pick up on a failure to squirt ink at the edges.

The solutions on that problem is in the imaging unit like you just have to clean the lens of the camera since tiny dots are dust that is being scnned by the lens during master making process

Check your flat bed and Document feeder scanning glass need to be clean, if any dot or dust in scanning glass of document feeder it will appear a line, check this points first
1- Check printouts from computer or FAX if it is clean problem in scanning section
2- Check using Copying a blank paper using only Flatbed if it prints without any line its problem from document feeder Scanning glass
So solution is clean the Document feeder scanning glass using wet cloth, note careful about wet cloth switch off the machine and clean it

White stripes on copies


Looks like some dots of the thermal head are defective. So the master at these dots cannot be punched.

This is for a Ricoh copier. You did not indicate machine.

The LD unit home position sensor does not detect an on condition while changing the LD unit position for correcting the LD position or changing the DPI.

5.4.3 LASER BEAM PITCH ADJUSTMENT
There are two laser beam pitch adjustment procedures: one for 400 dpi, and one
for 600 dpi. These adjustments use the following SP modes.
· SP2-109-1: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-2: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 600 dpi
· SP2-109-3: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-4: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 600 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.12: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 400 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.13: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 600 dpi

1. Perform SP2-109-8 (Beam Pitch Data Reset).

2. Input the value for 400 dpi that is printed on the LD unit into SP2-109-1.
Use the value printed after "P" on the new LD unit as shown below.
NOTE: Do not use values printed after a "V".

(These value numbers are on a sticker inside the machine with a UPC code on it. The numbers are just under the UPC barcode. And example number looks like this: "15980300151P: 120, 172", so the example 400 dpi value here is "120".)

3. Press the "Enter" key.

4. Perform SP2-109-3.

5. Print the 400-dpi test pattern onto A3 (11"x17") paper using SP2-902-2 no.12
(cross stitch). (See Service Tables - Test Pattern Printing - Section 4.2.3, pasted below.)

6. Write the value of SP2-109-1 on the test pattern which was input at step 2.

7. Change the value of SP2-109-1 and print another test pattern, repeating steps
2 to 5. Print about 5 patterns with different values for SP2-109-1 (e.g. "48", "96",
"192", "240").

8. Check this test pattern. If the laser beam pitch is not correct, the image looks
like a black vertical stripe pattern.
NOTE: If the laser beam pitch is correct, the vertical stripe is not so noticeable.
If the value is not correct, the vertical stripe pattern is darker.

9. Adjust the laser beam pitch position until the thin lines are of uniform thickness
(no striping effect should appear on the printout), doing steps 2, 3, and 4. (In
step 2, input a value which is estimated to be correct, then do steps 3 and 4,
then if necessary go back to step 2 and try another value.)

10. After adjusting the laser beam pitch for 400 dpi, adjust the laser beam pitch for
600 dpi, using the same procedure as for 400 dpi (use the SP modes for 600
dpi).

NOTE: Do not operate the machine until the test pattern is printed out completely.
Otherwise, an SC may occur.

1. Access the SP mode which contains the test pattern you need.

the copy mode display.

3. Select the paper size.

4. Press the "Start" key to print the test pattern.

5. After checking the test pattern, exit copy mode by touching the "SP Mode" key.
Reset the test pattern to 0.

6. Exit the SP mode.

Full page vertical line appears on copy fed pages.


Open up the document feeder. You will probably find wite-out on the scanner glass.

When put in feeder does not copy


lift feeder and look at the thin strip of glass, there will be a dot or something on it. Clean, as the paper is moving the dot looks loike a line to it,

Lines on making copies


clean the glass of the scanning area, a small dot of debris on the glass produces a vertical line from top to bottom in the feeding direction of the laser printer.

Thin vertical line


What you have described is definitely some form of Electrical Interference. Interference can come from a variety of causes. Is the Cable Inputting the Cable Box close to some High Voltage Electrical Lines? Or Are you located near some Electrical Power Station? Or A Police station, where the Radio Transmitter of the Police Station causing the Interference? As I said, there are a variety of reasons. Also, Try to check if the connector is loose at the rear of the Cable Box, or at the rear of the TV. You will have to eliminate every possibility reason. Wish i could help further.
