2003 Ford focus no tail lights, license plate lights, reverse lights have blinkers, brake lights. So some one said check fuse 32 GEM. How will I know if this module on back of fuse box

Yes, that is when they started adding all the extra little computers into cars, gem stands for Generic Electronic Module. General Motors cars use the same type mini-computers and call them Body Control Module or BCM's. It is an extra layer of complication in electrical and electronic wiring for autos. Their justification for this added complexity is questionable. It certainly adds to repair and testing costs. You would have to take the car to a shop that has electrical equipment that can test the modules. The gem, it's like an electrical switching junction "module" that routs signals from the park light switch (where you use it to turn on park lights and license lights) and on to the light bulbs themselves. And possible lots of other switches rout through this module going to the part the switch is for. Sorry if I confused, it confounds me as well, lol.

Drivers electric window is not working how do I fix it

You need to test the switch, the wiring , the window motor an anything else involved , smart junction box , GEM or generic electronic module ! You need to know how there work and you'll need a good wiring diagram that you can get at www.bbbind.com/

My 2007 ford focus loses power and starts shaking going down the road?

90% of the time, it is a combination of
neglected preventative maintenance.
eg: spark plugs over 3 years old, also
bad ignition coils or module or an egr valve
gone bad
Check for obd2 codes & cylinder misfires,
& replace the front oxygen sensors when you get to
100,000 miles.
You do not need a tune-up,you need to diagnose
just the current drivability issues & resolve

Fuel pump

Yes they are the same, the job of the fuel pump driver module is an electric voltage regulator that varies the voltage supplied to the fuel pump to slow it down, this makes it run very quietly and does away with the whine at idle that some people find annoying as I have found from personnel shop experience at the Ford dealer I worked for for 20 years..

This maybe a dumb question but can anyone help me by telling me were it is i can find the computer on a 2001 ford focus please and thank you

Hi, the PCM is hid inside the car behind the kick panel on the passenger's side.

Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel side trim strip.
  3. Remove the cowl side trim panel (kick panel).
  4. Remove the glove box.
  5. Remove the passenger side lower foot well trim panel.
  6. Remove the two retaining nuts.
  7. Remove the generic electronic module (GEM0 and the bracket and position aside.
  8. Disconnect the 3 powertrain control (PCM) module electrical connectors and remove the PCM.
  9. Installation is the reverse of the remove procedure.
CAUTION Make sure that the PCM electrical connectors do not unlock when installing the GEM module.

Daytime headlights wont go off

For starters unplug the battery so it won't go dead. It sounds like an electrical problem possible relay or module gone back. Be careful with this electrical stuff, get a pro to check it out.

I drove with my emergency brake on in my 2007 Ford focus and now it needs tightening and i dont know how to do that

I am not real familiar with 2007 Focus but I believe that if you drove with it on the brake band is no good. There is not very much friction material on these anyways so they can't stand much driving before they are gone.

2000 Ford Focus automatic door locks quit working. Replaced Central locking module, but still does not work. All of the doors will only work manually. Remote works to open trunk only - will not work on...

check fuse 63 first.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Binding latch mechanisms
  • Binding linkage
  • Misaligned door
  • Central junction box fuse 63 (20A)
  • Damaged wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connection(s)
  • Circuit
  • Door lock switch
  • Door lock actuator

It could also be your GEM (generic electronic module) which is expensive as it controls a lot of stuff. A scan tool can be used to cehck for fault codes from the GEM.
