Hi Gary Wilson, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

Does the passenger door unlock if you press the unlock on the keyfob more then once. Does the keyfob work? Is the battery good on the keyfob?

Hiya, yes key fob works has new battery fitted all other doors lock and unlock when the fob is used. just the drivers door dose not respond to this method, i have fiited a brand new door lock not an ebay special the drives door will lock if i use the button on the dash board but wont un lock using the button. if I lock all the doors manualy then press the fob the alarm activates and then the following mornig the car is totally dead and wont unlock or even recieve a signal from the fob at this point I have to break into the engine bay and disconnect the battery and then re connect it, doing this allows the signal to be recieved from the fob and unlock the car. hope this helps as carnt think of anything else. thanks for your reply

If the alarm kills the battery overnight your problem is far worse then the key fob did you have any mechanical work done to the starter, fuse box, battery etc? Trace steps backwards perhaps you have a bad accuator take the car to the alarm shop and for $25 they will check it and if you had it put in after market most places offer lifetime warranty on installation so they will check it for you then turn around and sell you a complete new alarm for about $95 but you wont have that problem anymore or the headache of trying to figure it out!!! Sometimes its cheaper to just have someone else deal with it and alarms are one of those things you dont want to F with cause it plugs to your cars brain!

Bmw drivers door only wont lock/unlock with key fob

Could be your driver door lock mechanism that is going bad , since the other door are working, it cannot be the fob. I would try to change the driver side door latch mechanism.

12/6/2010 2003 bmw 325xi: Key does not manually lock/unlock driver door...but still works in ignition and trunk...central locking system still works to lock/unlock all doors(including driver) from...

If the key turns in the lock, but does nothing, then the linkage has become disconnected or broken. The key is mechanical to the lock and the lock has a electrical switch to operate the central locking unit. Could be a simple broken clip from the lock barrel. Hope this helps

On my land rover discovery td5 [2000] how can i turn the alarm off & start it when the key fob stop's working

lock the jeep. hold in unlock position for 5 seconds, you will hear a beep, enter your unique code in a card in the front of the owners manual, will be something like this.
unlock 4 times
lock 8 times
unlock 13 times
lock 3 times
unlock and hopefully you hear 2 bleeps, now wait ten minutes for the alarm to turn off, the red light on the dash will blink really fast and the hazards may go off once, now you have 30 seconds to get your key in the ignition and start the car. but you need the code, apparently land rover will get it for you but you need indentity and proof of ownership etc.

Hello there top of the morning to you! First of all I just bought a 2000 Audi TT 1.8T yesterday and didn't realize a few things till i brought her home from the dealer. The key fob needed new batteries so...

once you fitted new batteries to both fobs you needed to reset the car.....put key in drivers door and unlock/hold key over(windows go down)wait 30 secs then lock/hold over key,(windows go up)wait 30 secs, then press/hold unlock button for 30 secs.you have just reset the system.you have loads of other little gizmos but i will leave you to find them all good hunting....one side parking lights/driveway illumination/and more.

2000 BMW 323I WONT UNLOCK WITH THE KEY OR KEY FOB, ANY IDEAS?

I had same problem. Driver door would lock/unlock with key in keyhole in door, but not with fob, and other doors would not lock/unlock. Even once inside none of the doors would lock/unlock with lock switch, or even by pulling handles. Mechanic (very trustworthy) explained I needed a new control module (cost me $600). Good Luck. $600 is better than having to roll down the windows so Grandma can Luke Duke it outta the car.

Land rover discovery central locking.

No, likely to be caused by the actuators in the lock mechanism failing usually causing the door to remain locked. The boor door can also fail this way, as do the front side doors. Replacement requires the whole lock unit to be replaced at a cost of roughly £60 a lock, and a hours work. Helps if you have small hands. Requires a full strip down of the door and you will need the lock unit, trim clips (a few quid) and a trim removal tool (tenner). You can bodge with a flat head screwdriver, but the tool does help prevent damage to the clips & trim panel.

We have a 2001 Ford Escape with a small problem. The remote key fob locks the doors and unlocks the doors but the lights don't flash anymore when you lock the door. The horn also won't honk after hitting...

I think you need to reprogram the module, you deleted the horn chirp and light flash confirmation. he dealer can reprogram for you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Principles of Operation
Power Door Locks
The generic electronic module (GEM) controls the power door lock and keyless entry system. Lock and unlock operation is achieved through the use of internal relays in the GEM. The relays are all door lock, all door unlock and driver door unlock. The normal path of the relays is to ground.
Pressing the door lock control switch to lock or unlock sends a ground signal to the GEM. The same GEM pin is used for unlock and lock input. The unlock signal is a direct connection to ground. The lock signal is altered by an internal resistor in the door lock control switch. This varied resistance identifies lock or unlock command to the GEM.
The door locks can also be controlled by the door key cylinder switches. For the liftgate door lock switch, turning the key to lock or unlock sends a ground signal to the GEM. The GEM will then ground the all door lock or all door unlock relay supplying voltage to the actuators. Turning the driver door key cylinder to the lock position sends a ground signal to the GEM. The GEM will then ground the all door lock relay supplying voltage to the actuators. Turning the driver door key cylinder to unlock sends a ground signal to GEM. The GEM will ground the driver door unlock relay and supply voltage to only the driver door actuator. If a second unlock ground is received within three seconds of the first, the GEM will ground the all door unlock relay supplying voltage to the passenger door actuators (if 2-stage unlock is equipped).
Keyless Entry
The keyless entry remote transmitter sends a signal that is received by the GEM internal antenna. Depending on the signal received, the GEM module will ground the appropriate internal relay and lock all doors or unlock the driver door. If the unlock signal is received again within three seconds of the first unlock, the GEM will ground the internal all door unlock relay unlocking all doors. The lock and unlock relay output to the actuators is controlled by the GEM, the same as power door lock operation from the control switch.
If the signal received is for the panic button, the GEM will cycle ground to the park lamp relay coil and horn relay coil. The park lamps and horn will continue to cycle until the panic button is pressed again or the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, or after the timer expires.

Door locks not working properly

This can be caused by the actuators in the lock mechanism failing usually causing the door to remain locked. The boor door can also fail this way, though sometimes the catch sticks (pry off the LR badge, squirt with WD40 and work it a few times to fix that). Replacement requires the whole lock unit to be replaced at a cost of roughly £60 a lock, and a hours work. Helps if you have small hands. It does require a complete strip down of the door, and will need the lock unit, trim panel clips, and a trim removal tool. Clips are a few quid, the tool's usually around a tenner.
