Interesting! My wife and you have the same motherboard. Now I have to tell her about this experiment we need to do, but there is another way. We can make a mathematical model of your computer, but I will need some information from you: When did it start sputtering, how long ago? When you changed the BIOS battery, did you erase the old stuff? How did you check the RAM memory? Can you check on the power supply voltages and measure them with a DVM. Send me the list of measurements, please! Can you possibly give me the identification of your motherboard? If you have a problem, we will help you! After I receive the information and if I am not 180 degrees off, within a day we should be rejoicing... Thanks for considering and the choice you made to use our service... My name is Constantin (arzconst is my internal nickname with Fixya.com).

Suddenly both printer and 9 pin serial ports not working. I have been using a Dynalink V1456VQE dial-up modem and an old laser printer on these ports, but no more. Windows XP is not recognising any hardware connected to the ports. PCI modem and USB printer are working OK. The same plug and play hardware works on another PC.

i can't install a cpu heat sync because my mobo does'nt have the white square where you put the cpu and clip the heat symc. My Mobo has onboard amd Athlon, the only way to instal a cpu heatsync is with screws on the side, but i don't find any heatsyncs with screws .
