Question about Refrigerators
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have an LG side by side fridge/freezer model no: GR-B206GTQA that I have recently purchased second hand. An error code ER CF is showing on the display panel. I have done a little research on the internet to try and locate the problem and found it to be associated with the condenser fan motor situated at the bottom/rear of the appliance. I have removed the panel to observe the function of the fan blade, the blade would rotate for several minutes when first plugged in and then it would stop and start intermittently before stopping completely, this is when the error code ER CF would appear. I have cleaned the condenser and fan blade etc as this area was very dusty but this didn't resolve the issue so I wrongly assumed that replacing the fan motor would fix it, I bought a new one (the correct motor for this model) and fitted it fully expecting to have successfully repaired it but the fan runs the same as the one replaced. If I turn off the freezer for several minutes and switch it back on again the motor/fan doesn't run at all but if its left turned off for a couple of hours it runs for several minutes before stopping as before and then the error code is displayed again. I would very much appreciate any help offered. Many Thanks Lee
The fan is almost certainly run by a sensor in the condenser. If it doesn't get hot enough, the fan doesn't run. Sounds like short of gas. Try wiring the fan to the compressor live and see if it runs all the time then.

This is a bad fan motor (click here like a sample replacement) inside the back wall of the freezer, you will
need to replace it with part number that could look it accroding with your model. You can order the parts
you need from the following places:
So, according with your comments, if your device has few months, before to take off some part, I suggest contact your dealer or technical service keeping under warranty service.
Hope this helps.

The service manual gives the following explanation of your error code (Er FF): "Poor motor, hooking of wires to fan. Contact of structures to Fan. Snapping or short-circuit of L/wire (if there is no fan motor signal for more than 60 seconds in operation of fan motor)" So CoolTech is right!

Turns out a CF ER is a Compressor Fan problem.
Had a look and the fan was not turning, although it spins freely. Apparently it's a 3 phase 12v fan. I was able to get a resistance measurement across it but didn't know what to expect.
This also explains why it seemed a bit quieter and why the water is a bit warmer sometimes. The valve for the water dispenser is right beside the fan and it's getting pretty hot in there at the moment.
