The flywheel will not turn on my elna su air electric machine

do you mean that you can't unlock the inner wheel on the flywheel to disengage the clutch? Grasp the outer flywheel and using a plastic mat for removing jar lids, get a good grip on the inner clutch wheel, then turn it towards you.

Babylock Imagine serger was working fine, now light is only thing working, tried another foot pedal and still won't start? Any thoughts?

Can you manually turn the flywheel (towards you) - does the needle and loopers move then through the normal sequence?

If the answer is no, then its most likely something in the drive gear path, possibly a nylon gear inside it that has failed. This can be replaced but probably means a major dismantle of the internals.

You may want to take it to a baby lock dealer and see if they confirm that this is the fault.

I had this gear replaced in my Bernette 334D and it cost $250, part was only $25 of that charge.

Hi, i was given a beautiful classic singer 675U1/3 and it was working but stitching at the bottom needed to be fixed. I tried all the settings and eventually decided to clean and oil the machine as per the...

Have you got the flywheel clutch fully engaged on it? I think this is the flywheel inner and outer on the Singers but if you've got the manual it should describe how.

If you want some help to get it going I'd suggest you join a Yahoo group of Singer enthusiasts and ask for a bit of help there, they love their old machines and some members are very knowledgable and happy to share. There is several groups "Singers" "Vintagesingers" or "Wefixit" so you might want to join a couple and lurk around the message boards, there is lots of really helpful info in files and photos too.

It may be that you've got oil onto the drive belt or something really simple - I'm not a Singer expert though and don't know their models real well but there are lots of classic Singer enthusiasts out there on these groups.

Hi, I have an Elna Carina and the flywheel is

I can direct you to a service manual for your machine but it may be something that you need a trained Elna service technician to deal with.

Link is http://www.arizonaexpressionz.com/elna_service/air_elec_carina_elec_SM.pdf

I am more familiar with the SU air electronic where you just hold the outside of the flywheel and turn the inside knob to disengage and rengage the clutch - didn't realise the Carina had a button flywheel release until I looked in the service manual.

Anyway, you could try dismantling the flywheel following the exploded diagram in the service manual if you are technically minded.

Or just take it to a reputable serviceman, I'm a big fan to supporting these guys as their knowledge is invaluable.

Hi, I have an Elna 410 and am having problems with winding the bobbin. I have a manual and have attempted this procedure several times but with no success. The flywheel is moving but the bobbin is just...

The 410 is one of the "made under licence" Elnas I think, circa '80's?
Do you disengage the flywheel clutch to wind a bobbin?

If you have tried it following instructions in manual carefully, and it won't wind, then it could be that the bobbin winder rubber has perished/failed and needs replacing. You may find parts for this on www.whitesewingcentre.com, www.sewingpartsonline.com or another of the parts websites.

Or take it to a service tech and ask them to quote repairing this part.

Flywheel locked up on Babylock Ellegante. No threads tangled up anywhere.

When you removed and replaced the throat plate, bobbin and bobbin case to clean the shuttle and surrounding area, did you have the needle at it's highest position?

If the bobbin case is not properly re-installed, the hand wheel is affected.

If all of the above has been done and the handwheel is still locked up, the machine will need to go into the shop for service.

This is an expensive, computorized machine and any additional hands-on troubleshooting could add up to a costly repair fee.

if you can turn it over easy its not the brake [but] when you pull the handle back, where the cable hooks up try pulling the braket back a little maybe the cable is wore do this with the handle puuled back[also if you have a armeture\coil/ clean it where it meats the flywheel and clean the magnet on the flywheel also check to see if the flywheel key is sheared if it has any groove at all and not smooth replace it]. thank you.

Elna su flywheel won't turn.

On the Carina SU there is a button on the flywheel to disengage when winding a bobbin. Be sure this button is pushed in.
