Ge Gsh25jsxnss side x side fridge is not getting cold, took plate off & damper works fine, I don't see ne kind of fan, it goes straight 2 the freezer near the ice maker. freezer is cold & working fine

Evaporator fan motor has probably failed. p/n WR60X10185

It is located in the freezer section, behind the back panels inside, and under the icemaker. Remove the screws on the bottom panel in the freezer, remove the ice maker, auger motor, and panel. is is about center of the freezer.

My frig is not cooling the temp is currently 68 but the freezer is fine any ideas

The refrigerator compartment is cooled by the cold air from the freezer. This air is blown in through a vent between the freezer and refrigerator compartment by the evaporator coil fan in the freezer. If the vent is blocked or the fan is not working would be the reason that the freezer is cooling but the refrigerator is hot.

To troubleshoot, you must remove the panel that covers the evaporator coil in the freezer. You will need to remove the contents of the lower section of the freezer to get access to the panel near the bottom of the freezer. Once the panel is removed, you should be able to confirm whether the fan is spining. If it does not turn and it is plugged in and the refrigerator is not in defrost mode, then the problem is with the fan motor.

If the fan is spinning but you notice ice buildup on the coil, the problem is with the defrost circuit. Typically the failures are with the defrost timer not functioning or that the defrost heater has failed. Hope this helps you.

My ge profile arctica fridge is reading about 42 degrees, but the freezer side is working fine . Its about 5 years old, a tech took a look at it and said the fans and fuses looked fine... any ideas?

u probably are starting to get an ice up behind the freezer compartment or your fan has stopped blowing the air into the freezer first thing is to make sure the fan is blowing the cold air into the fridge side if not then there is your problem if you do feel the fan blowing then you would have to carefully remove the rear panel and check in the areas that have willcall them holes tat go into your fridge if they have ice built up inside of them if they do have ice then you have a defrost problem and would have to be aqble to perfom a continuity test on the deforst thermostat and the defrost heater if both of these are fine the next thing that you would look at would be your defrost timer check for the air and the ice and if you stillhavent found the problem write back hope this helps

Refigerator is cooling in the lower area and not in the top, the freezer is coolinf fine

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE DIALS ON THE CORRECT SETTING. IF SO, TAKE A LOOK UP TOP AND PUSH AND HOLD THE DOOR CLOSE BUTTON, WITH DOOR OPEN UNTIL YOU HEAR THE FAN COME ON. IF THE FAN DOES'NT COME ON WITHIN 5 TO 10 MINUTES, THEN YOUR FAN IS NOT BLOWING THE AIR DOWN. TAKE APART THE INSIDE OF THE TOP BY REMOVING BOTTOM AND BACK PANELS AND AIR FLOW DUCT WHICH ALLOWS THE AIR TO FLOW DOWN. SOME MODELS COME WITH ICE MAKERS, REMOVE THIS 1ST. 2ND THE BOTTOM. 3RD THE AIR FLOW DUCT. 4TH THE BACK PANEL. NOW WITH YOUR FINGER, SPIN THE FAN BLADE TO SEE IF IT TURNS FREELY. IF IT DOES, PUSH IN AND HOLD THE DOOR BUTTON IN WITH THE DOOR OPEN UNTIL THE FAN STARTS TO SPIN. NOW AT THE BACK OF THE TOP IS A DRAIN HOLE AND AIR CANALS. MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT FROZEN SHUT WITH ICE. IF THE DRAIN HOLE AND AIR CANALS ARE FROZEN YOU CAN USE HOT WATER TO DISSOLVE THE ICE, BE SURE TO PUT A BUCKET AT THE BACK OF THE LOWER HALF OF THE FRIDGE TO CATCH THE WATER AS IT THAWS. WHEN THE DRAIN HOLE IN THE BACK IS COMPLETELY CLEAR, YOU WILL HEAR A SLURP SOUND. DO NOT POKE OR TRY TO CHIP ANY OF THE ICE LOOSE BECAUSE THIS WILL DAMAGE THE UNIT AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL COOLANT. AFTER YOU HEAR THE SLURP, IT'S CLEAR. MAKE SURE NO ICE IS BETWEEN THE AIR CANALS AND BEGIN TO PUT THE TOP TOGETHER. 1ST HOLD THE DOOR BUTTON UNTIL THE FAN RUNS THEN RELEASE. 2ND MAKE SURE THERE IS NO MORE ICE BLOCKAGE. 3RD PUT ON BACK PANEL MAKING SURE IT DOES NOT TOUCH THE FAN BLADES, AFTER PUTTING ON THE BACK PANEL, SPIN THE FAN BLADES TO MAKE SURE IT SPINS. 4TH PUT ICE MAKER BACK IN IF YOU TOOK ONE OUT AND MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE CONNECTORS FOR IT. 5TH INSTALL THE AIR DUCT. 6TH INSTALL BOTTOM PANEL. YOUR DONE. NOW CHECK FAN FOR PROPER OPERATION IN THE MANNER STATED EARLIER, AND IF IT OPERATES WITH NO PROBLEMS THEN YOU HAVE REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. IF THE FAN DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, THEN REPLACE THE FAN MOTOR. ALSO REMEMBER WHEN YOU RESET YOUR COLD DIALS INSIDE THE FRIDGE, IT TAKES AT LEAST 24 HRS. TO ADJUST ITSELF. THIS TAKES APPROXIMATELY 45 TO 1&1/2 HRS.

Defrost works fine but ice builds up in return air channel and fridge gets warm. model 106.55622500. Fan Ok, no ice on coil after defrost defrost timer ok. settings on middle of range after 3 weeks ice...

Hi!!

You may have the temp. set TOO HIGH for the freezer, set it in #2, leave the fridge setting in the mid range for now. Check after 24hrs. and adjust as necessary.

Good Luck!!

Fridge temperature has suddenly dropped to 15

Check the door gaskets, condenser fan, refrigerator fan and the freezer fan. That should narrow down the problem.

Defrost does not work properly, continues to freeze up element in lower freezer compartment, shutting down cooling in upper refrigeration unit. We continue (bout every two weeks) to take wall unit off and...

i noticed ice build up towards the bottom right corner of the back panel (in freezer)....i diconnected power...took the back panel off .....fan had frost on it....coil was iced up.... then on the back of the refrigerator i accessed the control board....plugged the power back on ...i jumped the line to the heater...heater didnt work....then checked resistance through the heater (checked ok)....

it came down to me replacing the defrost thermostat which is in series with the heater....defrost now works fine ...which is every 60hrs for 45 minutes on mine.

Freezer temp

Was the condenser fan back there running. It should be when the compressor is.
Is the fan in the freezer running. Check for ice buildup on the back wall and behind the back wall cover on the evaporator coil. Heavy ice here would be defrost problem.

Freezer works but refridgerator warm

you could find ice behind the back panel - worth a check. however the problem is probably ice in the return vent from fridge to freezer and the only way to cure is to switch off and leave for a day with doors open. if im right and you try this, if it re-occurs you may have a problem with the defrost system
